🌿 Looking for something to do in Toowoomba this weekend? 🌿

There’s plenty happening at Queens Park:
🛍️ Saturday morning — the Farmers Market under the big windmills at the Cobb & Co museum, with fresh produce, great food and market stalls.
🎶 Sunday — Markets in Queens Park, featuring live music, delicious food and plenty of stalls to explore.

A great way to spend the weekend supporting local producers and enjoying the sunshine.

🌱 A milestone moment for Rural Medical Education on the
Darling Downs 🌱
We’ve just completed the first week for our inaugural Year 1 cohort in the Griffith University Rural Medical Program — a significant milestone for both our students and our region.
For the first time, Griffith University medical students will undertake their entire four-year medical degree based right here on the Darling Downs, learning, training and becoming part of our rural and regional communities from day one. 🩺
We’re incredibly excited to support this cohort as they begin their medical journey and look forward to watching them grow over the next four years.
✨✨A proud moment for Rural Medical Education and the communities that make it possible. ✨✨✨

🎉 Publication milestone – Congratulations to Dr. Sisira Dharmaratne!

Congratulations to Dr. Sisira Dharmaratne on the publication of his article in the Australian Journal of Rural Health, marking an important milestone in his PhD journey.

The paper examines how place-based medical education influences the development of clinical reasoning, drawing on evidence from rural and medically underserved settings. It introduces the ‘HARD’ framework, offering a valuable contribution to the scholarship on rural medical education and workforce development.

A great start to the year for our Stanthorpe Griffith University LongLook medical students, who have just wrapped up orientation week with a visit to Girraween National Park on Kambuwal Country 🌿

Orientation is about more than settling in — it’s about connection, understanding place, and beginning the journey of learning and living in rural communities. It was a wonderful way for the group to come together ahead of their year of training in the region.

We’re looking forward to following their journey throughout the year.
