Your health is your wealth 🩺🍓. The incredible PsySafe Station volunteers are still all hands on deck so my absence doesn’t mean the end. Get in touch if you want to chat events. 🎊💃

The Queensland government ran a drug checking pilot through CheQpoint, testing over 1,200 samples and engaging nearly 700 individuals, many of whom had never spoken to a health worker about drug use. The service identified dangerous substances like nitazenes in 10% of samples, prompting statewide alerts and potentially saving lives.

Despite this, the government has refused to release the findings of an independent evaluation conducted by The University of Queensland, citing cabinet confidentiality. This decision coincided with the closure of the service by the incoming LNP government, raising concerns about political interference in public health policy.

Why does this matter?

• Transparency is essential for public trust and informed decision-making.
• Harm reduction works: people change behaviour when given accurate information.
• Suppressing data undermines evidence-based policy and risks public safety.

Call to action: Demand the release of the evaluation. Lives depend on honest, accountable governance.

The pill testing initiative was launched with a promise there would be an independent evaluation after 12 months, but the government is rejecting calls to share those findings.

🌿✨ Respectful Rhythms: Moving Together with Care ✨🌿

The dance floor is a shared space, a pulsing ecosystem of energy, connection, and expression. It’s where we come alive, but it’s also where we meet others in the raw, beautiful act of movement.
Now is a powerful time to reflect on what it means to engage with others in a way that is considerate, respectful, consensual, reciprocal, and thoughtful.

🔹 Considerate: Awareness of others' comfort and space. Reading the room, sensing when someone welcomes interaction—and when they don’t.

🔹 Respectful: Honoring boundaries. A nod, a smile, a hand signal.... Respecting the cues that say yes or no without pressure.

🔹 Consensual: Physical connection, eye contact, conversation... It’s all about enthusiastic agreement, not assumption.

🔹 Reciprocal: A dance is a conversation, a flow. When someone shares energy, match it in kindness and authenticity.

🔹 Thoughtful: Look out for each other. Hydration, safety, support... Community is built when we move with mindfulness.

Every dance floor is a tapestry of moments, woven by the way we interact. Whether you’re lost in the beat, sharing a groove, or simply holding space, let’s make each movement one of care and consciousness.

🌀 Move with love. Move with intention. Move together. 🌀

Super proud of the efforts of all the PsySafe Station team who gave their all for what was an amazing event @ WOK Presents Summer Campout.

Amidst all weather elements, our dedicated volunteers were committed to the cause 💪🏼

We worked our way through a whopping amount of fruit for you legends carving up a storm on the dance floor, and it is always so inspiring to witness the conversations that are SOFT ON DRUGS & HARD ON DRUG POLICY REFORM.

Despite a few last minute drop in volunteer numbers due to sickness, the team prevailed and we had the generous help of peers who didn’t shy away from contributing to keep things running smoothly.

Here’s a couple of pics 📷 Cant wait for some official photo drops from the multitude of extremely talented photographers at the camp out.

New Year, new habits! 🥹

New year new state-funded drug checking service 🧘

With WOK Presents Summer Campout soon approaching, now is a good time to reflect on how you consider the weather elements when preparing to party.

Summer in SEQ can bring temperatures in the mid to high 30’s with high humidity, as well as unpredictable storm cells and weather changes.

Chat to your pals about how you’ll all centralise harm reduction for the upcoming Summer Campout. Stuck for ideas?

☀️ Sun protection is so vital during daylight hours. Whether you choose to rock your fav hat & sunnies, slather on some sunscreen and remind your crew to reapply, or consider some extra fun sun-shades (cute parasols, anyone?), it’s crucial to plan ahead to make sure you don’t spend day 3 of the event wallowing in the misery of an avoidable sunburn. And let’s not get started on sun stroke!

💦 Hydration is the key. Make sure you plan accordingly to ensure your campsite is equipped with ample clean drinking water, and consider preventative hydration such as electrolytes (hydralite) to assist with replenishing stores of potassium which can be depleted through excess hydration and sun exposure. Reusable, insulated water containers are a super handy way to keep your water cool and add some icy goodness, and reduce wastage from plastic disposable bottles.

🌳 Take rest breaks in the shade during the peak heat of the day. Make the most of the incredible site the event is held on and seek shade to reenergise with your friends. Always a good excuse to bring some hydrating and replenishing snacks and take the time to picnic with friends (frozen grapes are a win!). We’re spoilt for choice at site and have a swimming pool for some extra cool-down time. Nothing like a low-key poolside chill sesh to give your body time to rest and cool down so you’re refreshed for the night ahead.

⏱️ Pace yourselves to prevent heat exhaustion. The event runs for multiple days and going too hard, too soon can ruin your experience and pose a greater risk of avoidable heat-related ailments and illnesses. Check in with your pals throughout the event.

🔫 Water toys can be a great way to cool down mid-boogie. Make sure you always get the consent of your fellow dance-floor goers before you spray them. While they might look hot, consent is key!

What are your favourite ways to stay cool at a summer doof? Would love to hear from you below!

Catch you on the d-floor.
