🔥 "It’s not until you get tired that you see how strong you really are." – Shaun T

Fatigue isn’t a weakness, it’s a threshold.

When your energy dips, your body aches, or your mind wavers...
That’s when your inner strength shows up.

💥 Strength to say no
💥 Strength to keep going
💥 Strength to rest when needed
💥 Strength to begin again

At Gordian Health, we believe in helping you uncover that resilience - not by pushing harder, but by supporting your whole system to work with you.

✨ Tired doesn’t mean you’re done.
It means you're getting closer to your real power.

Selenium is an essential trace element. It's incorporated into proteins as selenocysteine (cysteine with the sulphur atom replaced by selenium), which is often referred to as the 21st amino acid. There are 25 selenoproteins in the body. These include four glutathione peroxidases and three thioredoxin oxidases - these enzymes are a vital part of the body's antioxidant defence. The three iodothyronine deiodinases are also selenoproteins - these enzymes activate and inactivate thyroid hormones. The recommended daily intake of selenium is 55 - 90 mcg, higher in men and in areas of selenium deficiency.

Fatty Liver, What is it?
The liver is normally less than 5% fat. An abnormal build-up of fat in the liver is called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) or simply fatty liver. It's much more common in those with obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, or type 2 diabetes. NAFLD is an important indicator of overall health. It's associated with excess fat accumulation elsewhere in the body including the walls of the arteries, around the heart, and in the muscles

"Our bodies are our gardens – our wills are our gardeners." – William Shakespeare

Your body is not a machine to be pushed to its limit.
It’s a living ecosystem - one that thrives when tended with intention.

✨ What you feed it
✨ How you move it
✨ The thoughts you plant
✨ The rest you allow

These are the seeds.
And your will - your choices, your care, your consistency - is what brings it all to life.

At Gordian Health, we help you cultivate health at the root.
Because vibrant wellbeing doesn't happen by accident - it's something we grow.

What is it?
T3 is the active form of thyroid hormone.Triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) are the major forms of thyroid hormone. They have remarkably similar structures chemically but are very different in their biological action. The thyroid hormones are made up of two molecules of the amino acid tyrosine joined together. This structure has 4 iodine atoms attached to for thyroxine and 3 iodine atoms for triiodothyronine.Although T4 is by far the most abundant hormone produced by the thyroid, it's only biologically active when it's converted into T3. That iodine removal is achieved by enzymes called deiodinases. These contain selenium, which is why selenium is often used as a supplement for people who have thyroid problems.

TRE is also known as intermittent fasting. It's a popular eating pattern in which you increase the proportion of time you spend in a fasted state. As far as food intake goes, we're either in a fed state or a fasted state. Many of us spend more time in a fed state than fasted. When we take in calories whether a meal, a snack or a drink, we're typically burning glucose for energy and insulin levels are high. This high level of insulin along with plentiful carbohydrate makes it all too easy for us to store fat. In the fasted state, once muscle and liver glycogen is used up, which doesn't take long, we go over to burning fat. In the fasted state, insulin levels are very low. We burn fat rather than storing it. TRE is a great eating pattern for those who want to lose weight, prevent or improve diabetes, and improve cardiovascular risk.

Taurine is a naturally occurring sulphur-containing amino acid. Unlike many other amino acids, it's not used to make proteins. Taurine is important for the hydration and electrolyte balance of cells, to improve digestion by producing bile salts, to regulate cellular calcium balance, as an antioxidant, and to improve immune function. It's named after the ox whose Latin name is Bos ta**us. We make a small amount of taurine in the liver from cysteine. However, it's regarded as a conditionally essential nutrient. We can make enough when things are going well but we need it from our diet or supplements during illness, when we are growing or repairing, and with heavy exercise. It's an essential nutrient for cats who develop eye problems and liver problems without enough taurine in their diet. Ta urine is an essential nutrient for all feline species. That's why you often see ta urine as an additive in cat foods.

"What most people don’t realize is that food is not just calories: It’s information. It actually contains messages that communicate to every cell in the body." – Dr. Mark Hyman

Your body isn't just fed by food - it's informed by it.

Every bite you take sends signals:
🧬 to your genes
🧠 to your brain
🔥 to your metabolism
💪 to your immune system

At Gordian Health, we see food as more than fuel - it’s a language. One that tells your body how to heal, energise, and thrive.

✨ Choose foods that speak life.
✨ Nourish in a way that builds vitality from the inside out.

Because your body is always listening.

Our Story

Gordian Health was founded by Fiona and Lee Kennedy five years ago. We saw a need for a new approach to helping our clients with their health and fitness. We wanted to make use of our training and experience in nursing, medicine, fitness, nutrition and project management. Our approach is client centred and enabling. Evidence-based wherever possible and integrative – using knowledge that cuts across many disciplines. It is not just about the two of us trying to help you get the best of your health. It is about working with other partitioners who are also trying to help you and about introducing you to our associates when we think that they may be able to help you.

Why Gordian? Alexander the Great (356 – 323 BC) was one of the most powerful people in history. In 333 BC he entered the town of Gordium in Anatolia. There, he found a cart tied to a column. The knot in the rope was extremely complex with twist and turns that had no beginning and no end. Legend had it that whoever could undo the knot would rule all of Asia. Alexander studied the knot, drew his sword and cut right through it. The rest is history! Cutting the Gordian knot has come to mean adopting a bold approach to problem solving. And that is exactly what we try to do at Gordian Health.
