Hello everyone, just thought we should provide this little update. We hope you are all keeping well! 😃

❗📣 IMPORTANT UPDATE: today the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) would like to update the community on upcoming changes to COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.

We will begin to step back from testing and vaccinations over the coming weeks to enable our staff to return to their frontline roles in response to the number of seriously unwell patients presenting for care at our facilities.

Our facilities are managing a lot of acutely unwell patients right across our HHS and we’re now preparing to move our staff back to their frontline positions to care for these people.

Here's what you need to know about the changes:

🧪 TESTING: The drive-through testing clinic at 1300 Smiles stadium will CLOSE from 22 July.

RAT kits will be made available to community members for free at a new location which will be announced soon.

Testing will continue to play an important role in managing the spread of COVID-19 and the community is encouraged to use RAT kits when symptomatic and, if positive, report the result to Queensland Health here: www.qld.gov.au/rat-positive

We ask the community to NOT present to our emergency department for a COVID-19 PCR test. RATs are the preferred method for testing, and we need to keep our emergency staff available to assist our most severely unwell and injured patients.

Further testing updates will be provided right here on our social media channels.

💉VACCINATION: Sunday 21 August will mark the FINAL DAY vaccinating out of the community clinic after more than 16 months, 263,000 doses administered, 522 pop-up clinics, and 195 different vaccination locations.

Vaccination is your best protection against severe illness, and we encourage anyone who hasn’t had their vaccination or booster dose to visit Woodman Court now. After 21 August, vaccinating for COVID-19 will be taken up by local GPs and participating pharmacists.

Visit our website here for our Woodman Court clinic opening hours: www.townsville.health.qld.gov.au/patients-and-visitors/coronavirus-thhs/vaccination-information/
