💜 ADHD shows up differently for everyone — but one thing is true for many of us: when our strengths are recognised and supported, we thrive.

The ABC podcast This Working Life recently explored how understanding and managing ADHD at work can create more supportive, productive, and creative workplaces.

From self-awareness and organisation tools to leadership approaches that recognise cognitive diversity, it is a powerful reminder that inclusion starts with understanding.

At The Divergent Edge, we see this every day. When workplaces make space for neurodivergent people to work in ways that suit their brains, everyone benefits.

What if ADHD wasn't seen as a deficit or a disorder? What if it's actually harnessed as a superpower? We show how, given the right support and understanding, workplaces have the ability to turn ADHD into an asset and create environments where everyone thrives.

This is not about weakness or lack of resilience. It is about living in a world that often misunderstands how ADHD really works.

When you spend years masking, overcompensating, or trying to “fit in,” it takes a toll. That constant pressure to keep up or appear “together” can quietly wear down your confidence and wellbeing.

💜 At The Divergent Edge, our neuro-affirming therapy and coaching work helps people unlearn that exhaustion. We focus on understanding how your brain works and building systems that work with you, not against you.

You are not failing. You are functioning in a world that was not built for your brain — and that is what needs to change.

What True Neuro Inclusion Looks Like at Work!

We all want to feel understood at work. To have our way of thinking, focusing, and communicating recognised and valued for what it brings, not judged for how it differs.

For many neurodivergent people, that is still not the reality.

💜 That is where neurodiversity training comes in. It is not just awareness. It is about helping teams understand that brains work differently and that difference is something to celebrate.

At The Divergent Edge, all our training is created and delivered by neurodivergent professionals. We share lived experience, real stories, and practical ways to build workplaces where everyone can feel safe to be themselves.

Because when people understand neurodivergence, everyone benefits.

📊 Two-thirds of adults with ADHD go undiagnosed.

That means millions of people are navigating life, work, and relationships without the clarity or support to understand why things feel harder than they “should.”

💜 For many, finally getting a diagnosis is life-changing. It reframes years of self-doubt and burnout into understanding: this is how my brain works — and I can work with it.

This ADHD Awareness Month, let’s challenge the stigma:
👉 ADHD isn’t laziness.
👉 ADHD isn’t lack of willpower.
👉 ADHD is real — and diagnosis can open the door to strength-based support.

Can You Develop ADHD Later in Life? 💜 This ADHD Awareness Month, let’s change the conversation from stigma to self-understanding.

💡 Many adults first notice ADHD traits later in life — often after years of burnout, overwhelm, or struggling with focus.

But here’s the truth: you don’t “develop” ADHD as an adult. ADHD has always been there — it just might not have been recognised until later.

👉 Late diagnosis is more common than people think, especially for women and people who’ve been masking their traits for years.

Understanding this can bring huge relief. It shifts the story from “what’s wrong with me?” to “this is how my brain works — and I can work with it.”

📊 Did you know? Neurodiverse teams are 30% more productive when they’re supported with inclusive practices.

💜 You don’t have to change who you are to succeed. The system needs to adapt so your strengths can shine.

That means when workplaces make space for different ways of thinking — everyone wins. 🧠✨

This is why we believe support and inclusion aren’t “nice extras.” They’re essential. Because when neurodivergent people don’t have to mask or fight against systems that don’t work for them, they can show up with their full strengths — and it benefits everyone.

Do you ever feel like you just can’t focus — no matter how hard you try?

For many neurodivergent people, struggling to concentrate isn’t about being lazy or unmotivated. It’s about how the brain works with attention, energy, and information. 🧠✨

Ever sat staring at a task, knowing exactly what needs to be done… and yet feeling unable to start? That’s executive dysfunction — and it’s one of the most common challenges for people with ADHD and Autism.

Executive dysfunction isn’t laziness. It’s about how the brain processes initiation, organisation, and task-switching. 🧠

✨ Tips that can help:
🔹 Break it down — one tiny step at a time
🔹 Externalise support — planners, reminders, accountability buddies
🔹 Body-doubling — working alongside someone else to reduce overwhelm
🔹 Compassion first — shame makes it harder, self-kindness makes it possible

💜 If this resonates, know you’re not broken. You’re just wired differently — and there are ways to thrive.

ND Traits, Real Talk: Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD)

💜 Many people with ADHD experience something called Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD).

It’s more than just feeling hurt. RSD is an intense emotional response to real or perceived rejection, criticism, or failure. Even small moments can feel overwhelming — and it’s not about being “too sensitive,” it’s about how the ADHD brain processes emotional regulation.

✨ The good news? You can build strategies that make RSD easier to manage:
🔹 Name it — understanding what’s happening helps you step back from the spiral.
🔹 Regulate before reacting — deep breathing, stepping away, or sensory grounding can make space to respond instead of react.
🔹 Seek safe feedback — surrounding yourself with people who give feedback kindly and constructively makes a difference.
🔹 Self-compassion — remind yourself that sensitivity is also a strength — it’s linked to empathy, creativity, and passion.

👉 If this resonates, know you’re not alone. At The Divergent Edge, our neuro-affirming coaches and therapists support ADHD adults with strategies to turn differences into strengths.
