To all of those who have loved and lost too soon, our hearts go out to you today (and everyday).

Tragically, Stillbirth Awareness Day is now very close to our hearts with two of our Alchemy family members losing their precious babies this year.

To our Alchemy angels - Flossy and Pippa, our darling girls, you will forever be in our hearts, our minds, wishes, hopes and dreams.

You may have been tiny but the impact you’ve had on our lives, our spirit and our every being in the most heartbreakingly beautiful way is immeasurable.

You gifted us more than you could ever imagine and we will forever treasure the blissful moments we had to hold and kiss you, tell you how much you are and will forever be loved and what a difference you have and will continue to make.

We are so proud to call you ours.

For all the families who have watched their little angels grow their wings too soon, we see you, we are you and we will forever be there for you as we navigate this beautiful life tragically joined in heartbreak.

To all of the gorgeous families getting through the chaotic and stressful daily grind that is parenting… We also see you! But do us and all of those families who have had to say goodbye too soon a favour today and hug those beautiful babies and kiddos of yours a little tighter.

Take a moment today to stop and soak it all in, the giggles, the hot sweaty cuddles, the tears and tantrums, the snotty noses, the sleepless nights and everything in between… As in amongst the chaos you may not realise what a privilege it is to witness your babies growing up in front of your eyes.

They are the most precious things on earth - treasure and embrace it.

We’re so excited to welcome Jess into the Alchemy family this week!

Jess brings a WORLD of experience… quite literally! As one of the Australian Winter Olympics physios and an international motocross physio Jess brings with her extensive experience treating and managing sporting and musculoskeletal injuries as well as complex pain presentations and Pilates rehab classes.

Jess will be working across both our Noosa and Gympie clinics and we can’t wait for you to meet her!

Gayle is a highly experienced physiotherapist who has been practicing for over 20 years. She is passionate about helping people to get the most out of life.

She has a special interest in:
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Complex & Chronic pain
- High performance sport

She has worked in private practice physiotherapy and multidisciplinary clinics in South Africa, New Zealand and Germany before joining us here in Australia.

Gayle has worked with the NZ High Performance Sports Team, circus performers, busy executives and athletes of every level.

Gayle’s love of trail running has seen her working with long distance runners and providing running biomechanics assessments.

Gayle’s clinical toolset includes Dry Needling, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and Neuro-Meningeal Mobilisation, allowing her to help people who are challenged with chronic and complex pain syndromes. She merges these approaches with traditional physiotherapy approaches to enable novel and holistic approaches to recovery and performance.

Bio Compression Treatment - A client’s experiene

I use the Bio Compression Pump system to assist with treatment for Lipoedema in my legs and find them very easy to use. First, we open the lymph nodes to promote drainage and take 10x deep diaphragmatic
breaths.

The compression pants are fitted easily after which you then rest on the treatment bed in a semi reclined position. The tubes are connected to the pump and individualised settings are entered for your own specific treatment to meet your needs.

At the beginning of the cycle, the pants slowly build with air and pressure in sections, starting from the ankles and finishing at your waist. After this first round has finished, the machine cycles through building pressure in the sections, until all sections are compressed up to your waist. Then the pressure is released and the cycle commences again. The pressure is firm but not painful and actually feels quite supportive.

The treatment session is relaxing, with the machine producing hardly any noise and your legs feeling supported and treated at the same time.

There is no discomfort other than being ready to use the toilet at the end of the treatment cycle due to the movement of the stagnant lymph fluid.

What I find the most astounding is the look and feel of my legs after each treatment. There is an obvious reduction in the size of my lower legs due to reduced swelling and even a shape change. All of my legs feel soft and squishy rather than how hard and inflamed they were at the beginning of the treatment and feel much less sensitive and painful.

With regular and consistent treatments, I find that walking and movement is far less painful and arduous with my legs feeling like I can move without feeling like I’m wading through tar and feeling so exhausted.

This amazing relief means that I now feel more motivated and able to move more which also helps lipoedema management.

COMMON RUNNING BIOMECHANICAL MISTAKES

Ever felt a ni**le after a run and thought “I didn’t even run that hard!!” Running injuries often seem like bad luck but the cause can pretty much always be put down to:
1) A sudden change in load (distance, intensity, frequency, ground type, shoe type etc) or
2) Biomechanical mistakes that put joints under increased stress.
