"I can get in and out of the car easier..."

Lynn is already seeing the benefits of exercise

Our grant funded exercise groups for seniors provide a safe space to learn exercises that are suitable for older adults
...and you get to meet new people and form friendships ✨

We run groups across the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and Maitland regions at present

Thank you to the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network for supporting early intervention exercise for seniors across our community

Ros cooking up a storm 👩‍🍳

Ros is currently participating in the 'Your Plate Your Way' program at CT...
..what is this you ask?

It is a Dietetics led program that supports the development of cooking and meal preparation skills

Due to therapeutic dietary recommendations for her health conditions...
..and a prescribed texture-modified diet for safe swallowing

Ros requires custom recipes tailored to her preferences and needs

Ros has been supported to build skills across several recipes

Most recently, they created a texture-modified Christmas Cake with nostalgic flavours

Since Ros previously struggled with dry cakes and hard dried fruit, the Dietitian created a soaked, blended fruit mixture

This significantly increased the cake's moisture content while reducing the risk associated with dried fruit in its typical form

Ros was very happy with the end result after successfully making the recipe

Previously, they successfully developed a low-lactose vegetable muffin recipe that met all her nutritional requirements for a snack option

Across these two sessions, Ros has demonstrated improved confidence and has tried new skills in the kitchen

She has successfully made dishes suitable for her needs with assistance

Ros is a pleasure to work with and is always full of ideas for what she would like to cook next

Wisdom with every cuppa ☕️

In aged care, connection often involves a chat at the kitchen table

Clients love to share stories about their lives

the things they’ve learned

and the advice they wish someone had given them sooner

Emily says she often leaves a visit with just as much perspective as she brings

We all feel privileged at CT to support older adults to live longer and better

And it is a blessing to learn from our elders at the same time 🥰

Our end of year party was so lovely 🥰

Hugs all round 🤗

Good food

Some beverages

A busy dance floor 👀

Work makes up so much of our lives

So it is so important to enjoy your work

And have fun with who you work with 🥰

We are privileged to do what we do at CT

And blessed to do it alongside so many amazing humans 💞

Experience meets fresh perspectives 🌟💡

It’s this balance that keeps our team dynamic and adaptable

Always ready to embrace change and deliver the best support we can in the community

Everyone has something valuable to bring at CT

And together it all adds up to better care for the people we work with

By learning from each other, we keep growing as a team and finding new ways to support the people around us 🌱

"I don't do the exercises everyday..."

Luckily...you don't have to!

Susan has been attending on of our senior exercise groups that are funded by the HNECC PHN

As a government funded initiative, we have been tasked to help older adults to build their exercise and healthy ageing skills

The feedback continues to be amazing!

✅ Social connectedness

✅ Fun

✅ Building confidence with exercise

...always seems like there is negative media about the NDIS
..but on the ground
..we continue to see it change people's lives for the better

Like this participant that Em speaks about here

Being able to have a suitable wheelchair

Led to them being able to finally get back into the community

Sure...the NDIS...and any government program can be more efficient
..but it is important to remember that real humans are impacted by negative media

At CT we are in favour of a more efficient NDIS...as long as participant's are not negatively impacted

"Everyone should do it"

When asked about their group exercise experience...
..Ruth & Geoff had a little bit of banter first
..which we love haha!

And then they went on to say how great it has been...
..and they wish it was ongoing!!!

We run early intervention group exercise programs for seniors...
..which are funded by the government through the HNECC PHN

Always room to grow 🌱

Speech and Dietetics Clinical Manager Emily shares how learning is part of everyday life at CT

From PD sessions to case studies and new research...
..there’s always something new to explore

It’s a mix of formal and informal support

Buddying up, sharing knowledge, and learning from each other in real time

That generosity keeps our team connected and growing together 🤝

And when our clinicians grow, so does the quality of care we bring into the community!

It's a tradition now 🤭

Make the most of it 🌟

Rachael hears this advice a lot from clients: make the most of being young. At first it sounds like one of those classic clichés, but when it keeps popping up, it makes you stop and think.

From watching couples still in love after decades to the cheeky reminders about sore backs, it’s those little moments that stick. They carry a mix of humour and wisdom that you can’t help but take on board.

It’s a good reminder that sometimes the simplest advice is the stuff worth holding onto.
