It’s 10:47pm and your hormones are begging you to stop scrolling!

I get it, it’s easy to ‘switch off’ and fall into a black hole but while you might think you’re winding down… your hormones are gearing up.

Your body loves rhythm. Darkness. Calm. Predictability. Not bright screens and mental stimulation at 11pm.

Try this instead: dim the lights, put your phone down 30–60 minutes before bed, stretch, read, breathe. Boring? Maybe. Hormone-friendly? Very.

Your future self (and your nervous system) will thank you. 🌙

🎾 Summer of Tennis - Brisbane International 🎾

Bit late but here is my summary of my epic summer of Tennis January 26.
We went to the family day at the Brisbane International with another family which was a fabulous and full day. None of the kids wanted to leave when the special Ks were playing doubles at night.

I went back with girlfriends, and then a third night match with hubby. There may have been Aperol spritz involved too! They had a 100% gluten free food truck that had great food options for all of my visits!

Tennyson is such a great Tennis venue as you can get close to watch top players on the practice courts or just walking past like my snap of Medvedev (lucky he's so tall).

Bucket list is to go to Melbourne one year for the AO! This week I'm having tennis withdrawal now it's all wrapped up🤪

I’m not hungry in the morning… I just have coffee.” If I had a dollar for every time I heard this in clinic 👀

For so many women, coffee becomes breakfast not because it’s quick and easy but because their body isn’t sending strong hunger signals first thing. Often this links back to stress hormones, blood sugar swings overnight, or digestion that hasn’t fully switched on.

Perimenopause or ‘Peri’ is the phase before menopause (4-10 years *yes sorry*) when hormones, especially oestrogen and progresterone, begin to fluctuate - causing an array of different symptoms. For most women, peri begins in their late 30s to mid 40s.

Common symptions include:

• Irregular or heavier periods
• Low energy
• Your usual diet/exercise suddenly stops “working”
• Your b***s are sore one month and not the next
• Mood changes or increased irritability
• Hormonal breakouts/skin changes

Essentially, your ovaries are running out of eggs, and instead of hormone levels gently fading… they surge and crash unpredictably:

So one week you might have:
⬆️ High estrogen → sore breasts, heavy period, anxiety
Then suddenly:
⬇️ Low estrogen → hot flushes, dry skin, low mood, poor sleep

So no, you’re not losing your mind, your hormones are changing and your body is learning a new rhythm.

Naturopathy recognises that the body has an inherent ability to establish, maintain, and restore health.

And I truly believe this.

Your body isn’t “broken” it’s constantly communicating with you.

Intermittent fasting works… for some bodies.
