I'm thrilled to share something close to our hearts: MYDIS - Making a Difference in Disability Support. Our journey began because we felt a deep concern - a roadblock in the National Disability Insurance Scheme, a barrier of not knowing the ins and outs for those providing crucial services.

We noticed a heartfelt truth: while supervisors and managers had skills, our incredible support workers sometimes lacked that personal touch. It's not just about knowing the disability name; it's about understanding the little details, the struggles, and the unique stories.

At MYDIS, we see our support workers as more than just caregivers; they're kind souls with hearts eager to help others. We felt a calling for change, a promise that each worker not only has the right skills but also a commitment to learning and growing.

The journey has its challenges. In a world that sometimes values quantity over quality, MYDIS stays true. We handpick individuals with true empathy, a sincere commitment to making a difference.

Despite tempting offers for the inexperienced, we stick to our values. We get the delicate balance between costs and fair wages, especially when dealing with the complexities of supporting those with "complex behaviors." - a term that often leaves us scratching our heads.

Our commitment remains unwavering. We want to be the change we wish to see in the world. Our vision is simple: to provide ethical, wholehearted support because we believe in treating everyone with dignity and utmost care. 💙 MYDIS

We have been emphasising so much on long-term capacity building and now we have evidence why!

🔸 Enhancing Outcomes: The Power of Capacity Building Supports 🔸

🌟 It's exciting to see the positive impact that capacity building supports have on home and living-related outcomes for individuals with disabilities under the NDIS! 🌟

✅ Research suggests that long-term utilization of capacity building supports is more effective than shorter periods of intensive support. This highlights the importance of sustained engagement and growth.

🔎 In particular, capacity building supports focused on social and community participation as well as employment have proven to have the most significant impact on improving home and living-related outcomes.

💪 While individuals with intellectual disabilities benefit the most from these supports, it's worth noting that the effects, although small, can still make a meaningful difference in their lives.

🎯 Factors such as younger age, higher support needs, and increased utilization of capacity building supports have been associated with improved outcomes.

📝 However, it's important to acknowledge that the current binary format of questions in the short form outcomes questionnaire may not fully capture the true impact of certain capacity building supports on home and living-related outcomes.

Let's continue to promote the power of capacity building supports in our work and strive to ensure that all individuals receive the necessary resources and opportunities to thrive! 💙
