High Value Play - 0-8 moβ¨βοΈ Baby Physio Recommendations π
As a baby and kids Physio, Iβm always looking at toys through two lenses: Does my baby actually like it? And what is it actually doing for them while they play? And I value a low stimulation toy (not a huge fan of squeaky songs and flashing lights here!) ππ€ + we aimed for a whoollleee lotta tummy time! π
Hereβs why these 8 picks are on high rotation in our house:
- O Ball: The best for those early βIβm holding it!β moments. Itβs so easy for tiny fingers to grip.
- Rolling Mirror: Perfect for tummy time - nothing beats the βwhoβs that?β look in the mirror. Encourages crawling when a baby plays with it whilst on their hands and knees.
- Soft Activity Cube: A little sensory powerhouse with all the different textures and crinkles. Great option for propped up supported sitting if placed in babyβs lap.
- Baby Maracas: Great for learning that βI move this = it makes a soundβ connection.
- Ocean Water Mat: Makes floor time feel like a mini sensory adventure. Facilities weight shift in tummy time, a precursor skill required for rolling. Encourages single hand reaching in tummy time too.
- Sensory Books: Perfect for practicing those βpincerβ skills while turning the pages.
- Snuggles the Octopus: So soft for tactile play and gripping and reaching practice.
- Silicone Teether: A lifesaver for sore gums thatβs actually easy for them to hold onto, develops oral motor skills.
Whatβs the #1 most-played-with toy in your house right now? Iβd love to hear it! π Comment or message me if you want links to toys βΊοΈ
