We are a bit late… because well… we have been busy mumming all day but we couldn’t let today go past without a shout out!
Today, on International Women’s Day, I want to take a moment to recognise the incredible women and mums who make our little corner of Victor Harbor so special. 💜
To the amazing women who are part of our team at Strive Kids Hub, thank you. Your compassion, creativity, patience and fierce advocacy for the kids and families we support never goes unnoticed. The work you do every single day changes lives.
To the women running the businesses alongside us in our community. The educators, allied health professionals, small business owners and supporters, thank you for the collaboration, the shared passion, and the way you lift others up while building something meaningful.
But today I especially want to acknowledge a group of women we see quietly doing extraordinary things every day… the mums who walk through our doors.
The mums in the thick of it, finding their feet, learning the ropes and rediscovering how to play. To the first time mums, to those figuring it all out again or to those who are seasoned pro’s but exhausted for a million different reasons, we see you.
To the mums who show up to every appointment.
Who sit in waiting rooms researching, learning, worrying and hoping.
Who have put careers on pause or walked away from them entirely because the school calls never stop, because of suspensions, expeulsions or a system that just doesnt work for your kiddo! Those who regularly leave work early, rearrange schedules, fight waitlists, fill out endless forms, attend meetings, and somehow still hold everything together.
The mums who become advocates, coordinators, researchers, therapists, and safe places for their children (we know how hard that last one can be especially when no one else sees the behaviours) often all at once.
We see you. We see the exhaustion, and the burnout that is hidden behind the strength.
We see the way you fight systems that are often far more complicated than they should be.
We see the love that drives you to keep going when things feel unfair, overwhelming, or uncertain.
As a paediatric OT, it is a privilege to work alongside you. To be a part of your childrens journey. Not just to support your children, but to witness the resilience, courage and determination you bring every single day. The wins, the progress, this journey would not be possible without all that you do!
You are doing an incredible job, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it.
Today we celebrate all of you. The therapists, the leaders, the business owners, the advocates, and the mums who never stop showing up.
The world is better because of the work women do both seen and unseen.
Happy International Women’s Day. 💜
From all of us at Strive Kids Hub.
