Update!

I did one strict 5DD and then have been eating heathily for the last 1.5 weeks but also enjoying some treats as well.

So far over 5kgs down!

I thought I'd add another option for dinner day 2-4. Chicken and veg soup!

You could portion it out for the 3 days or freeze some for a break from chick and veg/salad.

I put:

Add these first
Onion
Garlic
Celery
Carrot
Chilli (optional)

Then add
Water
Chicken breast (I put them in whole then shredded layer)
Bay leaf
Salt and pepper

At the end add
Broccoli
Bok choy
Asparagus

So yummy!

Well lovelies, it's been a hot minute!

I've been busy up here in Cambo getting my tours back up and running and had a trip to Argentina so Pedro could get a knee op. With that amazing trip comes a few (like almost 10) extra kilos. Wouldn't change it then but need to change it now!

I am on day 3 of Moderes 5 day drop, this is a program designed by dietitians to help result your gut and shift some stubborn weight, it is quite simply:

5 days
5 products
5 pounds loss (about 2.6 kilos)

So far I have found the following:

It's super easy to follow, you get a meal plan with it when you get the 5 products.

Day 1 was the hardest as you don't eat until dinner but it was OK.

I've been getting headaches in the afternoon, I think it's my body detoxing all the crap out!

I've been sleeping a solid 8 hours every night (maybe the magnesium is helping)

Day 2 there was too much food for me so I had to cut back a little today.

I am definitely less bloated.

I have weighed myself and taken measurements so will clock back in with my end result on Satirday morning!

Hope you're all well,

Ducky x

COLLAGEN FOR DUMMIES

BRACE YO BAD SELF FOR 🦆 DUCKY'S HOME SCHOOL 👩‍🏫

I AM NOT A SCIENCE NERD BUT...

I've had heaps of peeps asking about this Collagen I keep banging on about. So... here is some of what i've personally learnt in the last 18 months!

We stop producing Collagen naturally at around age 25.

🏠If your body was a house... imagine collagen is like the bricks, it's structural... it's in our skin, our connective tissues, our ligaments, tendons, blood vessels and even our eyes are 90% Collagen, WTF I KNOW!! Similar to DNA it has a triple twist like a plait formation that makes it super-duper strong, like steel strong!

⁉️Why our Collagen and what to look for when purchasing Collagen?

There are a lot of 'me too' products on the market, swamped you may say ..... they see collagen as a trend and try and jump on the bandwagon, without having the real knowledge, passion or understanding for collagen or the consumer.

💰Usually just for money.

In areas of the HUMAN body where Collagen is found THREE things are generally present :

1) Collagen itself
2) HA ( Hyaluronic Acid)
3) Chondroitin Sulphate (in joints etc)

We use a COLLAGEN MATRIX of all 3.

WHY is that SO SPECIAL?

🎁Well because it's WAY more than just collagen, it's a full matrix 🧬.......that's patented!

First off any collagen supplement is really incomplete WITHOUT HYALURONIC ACID AND CHONDROITIN SULPHATE

Most collagen supplements have super fruits which enhance their blend or elixirs, BUT they should ALWAYS have these 2 things in there too.. HA and Chondroitin Sulphate...or they're just a pretty, expensive bottle/tub with limited use.

🧱If Collagen is the brick in the body so as to speak........... then Hyaluronic Acid is the mortar. When you see a child's skin its moisturised and plump looking because it has an abundance of HA in it. Unfortunately, as we age we begin to shrivel up and lose it .........like old prunes lol 😭

Chondroitin Sulphate is a chemical that is normally found in cartilage around joints in the body and is well studied to have a huge impact on joint health!

You rarely find Collagen in the body without these two molecules nearby, they work together!!!!

The Matrix I use has Collagen, HA and Chondroitin Sulphate.
Now...

There are a few types of collagen out there...

💣TYPE 1
💣TYPE 2
💣TYPE 3 are just some.

💣TYPE 1 is usually sourced from boiled fish 🐟 bits or bovine parts... it's the skin, tendon, vasculature, organs, bone parts of these animals that's boiled up to form Collagen, can be liquid OR powder.

It comes predominantly from fish 🎣 farming or deep-sea fishing sadly and has huge sustainability issues. Type 1 is limited to minimal effects in the skin only and not really for anything else.

💣TYPE 2 is our collagen and it comes from cartilage. Native type II collagen is a nutraceutical ingredient derived from chicken 🐓 sternum cartilage. I've always maintained that if you are going to kill an animal, you should be using every single part of it. There are plenty of organic chicken bi-parts that we can use up to make something else - aka Type 2 Collagen instead of wasting it and throwing it out. This collagen nourishes hair, skin, joints, nails, the gut ...the list goes on and on and on.

💣TYPE 3 collagen is a fibrillar Collagen, and it consists of only ground up hooves and bones. Ew.

But Ducks 🦆, why can't I just take, say a Marine beauty liquid collagen, or a powder, or a bovine broth, for instance, and have that same impact...???
Sorry, but you can't ☹️ it has a few important things missing!

We want the steel - aka collagen, we want the HA..so we plump skin glow and we want the chondroitin sulphate for our joints and muscles and ligaments right ????????

So the matrix I use has of all three substances!!!!!!..... PLUS other potent ingredients!

It is NOT just a beauty liquid, it's for full body and skin health!
It has 7 patents, full peer-reviewed clinical studies and research until my NON-science 🤓 brain can legit take no more!!!

My last points..... I am getting there 🏃🏼‍♀️ I promise ...when a product is invented or designed from the heart ❤️, rather than a me-too .... it always shows through in the care of its design, the ingredients and the quality!

It’s not just a white label product!

If I am going to promote a product and purchase a product for myself, then I am all for consumer rights and transparency, so I want to make sure I am purchasing a REAL quality product that helps not just 1 or 2 things but helps ⤵️

EVERYTHANG!!
🏃🏼‍♀️Joints ( I want to be stronger for longer)
💪🏻Muscles ( tone & metabolism)
💇🏼‍♀️Hair ( I'd like more thick hair please)
💅🏻Nails ( strong healthy nails)
🧴Skin ( glow & anti-ageing)
🧬Gut health (immunity and digestive health)
I WANT IT ALL !!......and if you spend money on collagen you should want it ALL too!

Hope that helps explain why I choose a collagen matrix!🦩
PS. I'm 42 and I believe ageing is most definitely a privilege, but i'll slow it down wherever I can!

💚For anyone who has a hard time eating greens (or know someone who does). This is so simple and so tasty! A great dinner party addition.

🌱I used broccoli but this is amazing with asparagus or beans!

🧑‍🍳Blanch your greens for 30 seconds
Toss in a splash of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper

🧀Shave some parmesan on top.

How cool is this! These are AMAZING in their own right but look what happens when they are coupled together!!! WOW

First up? Tomato 🍅 & Avocado 🥑:

Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, which reduces the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Fats, which are the avocado’s specialty, make the lycopene more bioavailable. So treat yourself to that extra guac 😉

Next: Kale & Lemon. 🍋

Kale is a plant-based source of iron, which is non-heme and less bioavailable. Heme iron comes from animal sources and has been said to be associated with coronary artery disease, colon cancer, and type-2 diabetes. Instead, get your iron fix by pairing your kale with Vitamin C-rich lemon, which swoops in and cranks up iron absorption big time. 🙌

And finally: Turmeric & Black Pepper.

Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric. It’s a potent anti-inflammatory that works wonders for people with joint pain and other similar ailments. By sprinkling the black pepper on your turmeric-infused meal (like a curry!), you increase the bioavailability of curcumin by 2000%!

This is why our Phyto GOLD has fermented tumeric and black pepper. I have a scoop in my morning elixir with my Shape, Trebiotic, Fibre and water!

So not only are these foods powerful individually, but when combined with their trusty sidekick, they become unstoppable. 🙌 🙌 🙌

Trust your GUT!

Before you go reaching for the anti-depressants, I challenge you to take a look at your gut health. These are ALL telltale signs of an unhappy gut, and an unhappy gut means an unhappy YOU!

After 22 years of suffering all the classic signs of an unhappy gut (and trying everything known to man to mask the symptoms), I had come to a position of acceptance. I had no idea that these classic symptoms were all linked to my gut:

Bloating

IBS

Anxiety

Depression

Skin issues

Then I became a 'Gut Health Geek' hahaha, it's truly fascinating how many common ailments we can cure by simply looking after our gut!

GUT HEALTH is super important ...for a healthy, vibrant, disease-free life!
HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF FOODS THAT CAN HELP:
15 Foods For Good Gut Health

Confused about what to eat and what not to eat? With so much information online about healthy eating, it can be tricky to be sure about what’s best for a healthy gut.
So here’s my guide (in no particular order) to tasty foods that are also good for your insides.
1. Yoghurt
Live yoghurt is an excellent source of so-called friendly bacteria, also known as probiotics. Look out for sugar-free, full-fat versions and add your own fruit for a tasty breakfast. Yoghurt drinks can contain high numbers of bacteria that are good for the gut, far more than you would find in a normal yoghurt. Do be mindful though as they can have high sugar content.

2. Kefir
This probiotic yoghurt drink is made by fermenting milk and is packed with good bacteria. It originated in the mountainous region between Asia and Europe, as well as Russia and Central Asia. It also makes a great addition to smoothies and soups, or you can use it as a base for salad dressing (add lemon juice and seasoning).

3. Miso
Miso is made from fermented soya beans, plus barley or rice, and contains a range of goodies such as helpful bacteria and enzymes. A savoury paste used in dips, dressings and soup, it can also be used as a marinade for salmon or tofu. It’s a staple of Japanese cooking and suitable if you’re avoiding dairy. There is uncertainty within the research that the bacteria effectively reach the gut, nevertheless in regions where Miso is a staple food source the population have better gut health and less bowel disease.

4. Sauerkraut
This is finely chopped cabbage that has been fermented. This great source of probiotics, fibre and vitamins is best known as a German dish, but versions exist in Eastern and Central Europe. Choose a product that has not been pickled in vinegar, as that doesn’t have the same benefits (it should essentially be cabbage and salt only). It’s delicious served with sausages and can be cheap and easy to make at home.

5. Kimchi
This Korean speciality of fermented vegetables brings the benefits of probiotic bacteria along with vitamins and fibre. Use it as a lively side dish with meat, salad or eggs. It’s so popular that Koreans say “kimchi” in the same way that we say “cheese” when they have their photos taken.

6. Sourdough
This is very fashionable at the moment, but there’s a good reason for that. Made by fermenting the dough, it’s more digestible than regular bread and its energy releases slowly. It makes fantastic toast too.

7. Almonds
These have good probiotic properties, which means they are a treat for your gut bacteria – high in fibre, and full of fatty acids and polyphenols. A handful of almonds makes an excellent snack when you’re feeling peckish.

8. Olive oil
Gut bacteria and microbes like a diet of fatty acids and polyphenols. These are found in olive oil. Studies have shown that it helps reduce gut inflammation. Use it for salad dressing or drizzle it over cooked vegetables. Some studies have also found olive oil to be beneficial in easing indigestion problems and can also benefit your pancreas through lowering its requirement to produce digestive enzymes.

9. Kombucha
We all know water is crucial for gut health, but what else can you drink? Kombucha is a fermented tea drink thought to have originated in Manchuria that is full of probiotic good bacteria. It has a sharp, vinegary taste and can be used as a refreshing drink on its own or mixed with fruit and spices. It also makes the base for great cocktails.

10. Peas
Gut bacteria need fibre to flourish, so the more fruit and vegetables you consume the better. Peas are full of soluble and insoluble fibre to help keep your system in balance. Add peas to stir-fries, soups or salads.

11. Brussels sprouts
Popeye had it right, Brussel Sprouts contain the kinds of fibre that good bacteria like and sulphur compounds which help combat unhealthy bacteria such as H pylori. Stir-fry with garlic and bacon for a delicious side dish.

12. Bananas
One of nature’s handiest and healthiest snacks, bananas are full of the kind of fibre that good bacteria enjoy. They also contain healthy minerals.

13. Roquefort cheese
Live, runny, smelly French cheese will give your gut bacteria a boost – but eat it in moderation. Add it to salads or spread it on your sourdough. Whilst we cannot be ensured that all of the bacteria survive digestion to be beneficial it is believed that other properties help preserve some bacteria during digestion.

14. Garlic
Garlic, with its antibacterial and antifungal properties, can help keep “bad” gut bacteria under control and help balance yeast in the gut. Use it as a flavouring for savoury dishes. The properties within garlic act as a fuel source to allow the bacteria to do their job better which overall improves gut function.

15. Ginger
Fresh ginger can help in the production of stomach acid and it stimulates the digestive system to keep food moving through the gut. Add freshly grated ginger to soups, stews, smoothies or stir-fries. Pour boiling water on grated ginger to make refreshing ginger tea.

I hope you found these handy and let me know if you haveany other suggestions of fab foods for the gut!
