‼️The ABM updated the Mastitis protocol, revealing new insights. Mastitis is now seen as a spectrum of conditions resulting from ductal inflammation.‼️
💫Oversupply is the first marker, this can then lead to painful inflammation which causes narrowing of the milk ducts (previously called a ‘plugged duct’), which could then progress to inflammatory mastitis.
💫Previously referred to as ‘plugged ducts,’ we now identify them more accurately as “ductal narrowing.” This shift emphasizes the effectiveness of cold compresses and other anti-inflammatory treatments for managing mastitis, in contrast to previous recommendations advocating for heat.
❌heat ❌vigorous massaging ❌extra pumping can all lead to worsening of symptoms.
