Holistic by Nature

Holistic by Nature A Canberra, Australia based business run by Kinesiologist, Kate Pamphilon. Sharing the love and wisdom of modern and ancient healing traditions.

Welcome to Holistic by Nature, an alternative medicine business with an integrative approach to health and healing – to look at the whole person and not just the physical self by using knowledge and techniques from all over the world. I want to make the knowledge and tools of alternative medicine available to everyone, not just therapists. You don’t have to be a therapist to understand it all and be able to apply it successfully to your own life. Don’t get me wrong, taking the time to go and see a Kinesiologist or the like is one of the best things you can do for yourself when you feel you’re struggling to do it on your own or when you want a better understanding of what’s going on. But I believe this goes hand in hand with your own natural healing abilities. I’ll also be recommending some great online resources and texts you can find at your local library or bookstores, as well as equipment you can use at home. In short, I’m a Kinesiologist based in Canberra. Kinesiology is a form of energy/vibrational medicine that is gentle, safe, natural and promotes physical, emotional and mental, spiritual and energetic health. I’m talking about the mind and body connection that most people by now have some kind of understanding of. That’s why I’ve called my business Holistic by Nature – because what we experience, our environment and who and what we are, are all connected; we are holistic beings by nature and I take a holistic, natural approach to health and healing. At the very least I hope you enjoy reading my posts and that you get a lot out of them. Any feedback, suggestions, questions or comments are most welcome. And if you would like to come and see me for a session – check out my contact details below! I love what I do so I look forward to your call.

Your Heart is where the healing happens. A client shared this with me this week and it really resonates. We often don't give our Heart enough credit for the power and potential it holds. Culturally, we are directed to think and analyse and sort and answer and solve. These attributes are held on a pedestal often to the detriment of your heart and, indeed, your wellbeing. You do all you can to defend and protect yourself from discomfort or hurt. So, you wall up your Heart and stay in high-level thinking. It's safe there. But. The big but - do you actually heal and move through your wound? Or do you carry it, and it acts as a trigger.

Give yourself permission to drop down into your Heart. Perhaps, you'll discover Your Heart is Almight.

Tread gently. You don't have to do it alone xkpx

This quote came directly from my teenager.

It is pure gold.

Not only does it perfectly describe the feelings that arise whilst reading a great book, it also represents the next level of stubbornness found in my household. Myself included 😂

PS: It was Millie Bobby Brown's Book 'Nineteen Steps'

December feels... Maybe you're like me and you can't do a whole lot in yoga. You stick to the basics. And come December, you naturally find yourself in child's pose — in the shower, on the office floor, by the front door on the WAY to work). Hey, whatever gets us through, right?!

I honestly think this is one of THE BEST asanas (yoga postures) EVER! Perhaps December needs to be 'Child's Pose' month — the year is winding down, our nervous systems need winding down yet in other areas things are ramping up. I say "bring on child's pose, it's all I got left, baby!"

On a side note — when I'm asked to do downward dog, 75% of the time I end up here ;o)

As always, tread gently, my friend xkpx

You can't always see anxiety in others. It's often a hidden, invisible kind of suffering that others don't always recognise is happening.

Many of us can observe typical external signs of anxiety like shaking hands, hearing a shaky voice, eyes darting left and right or sweaty skin.

However, many people with anxiety can be well practiced at hiding their internal battle through masking (smiling and copying others) or overcompensating (laughing, yelling, working extra hard, perfectionism). Friends and loved-ones are often surprised to learn that someone they know suffers from anxiety.

The state (or trait) of internal anxiety is a very lonely experience. Sometimes, we're just trying to get through the day, best we can. This lonely experience can be supported through connection with your body and learning mindfulness and other holistic techniques.

It's also very important to find even a small community (one or two trusted people) that you can connect and share with. Research shows that connection can be one of the greatest healers for anxiety, stress and depression.

And always, check in with others. Perhaps there is someone in your life who needs help to see that your door is open for an honest and gentle discussion (and in my world — a big cup of chai). Tread gently, my friends xkpx

I read this quote in Brenè Brown's book about emotions: Atlas of the Heart. I realise it's not necessarily inspiring. Rather, this speaks to those of us who feel and sense deeply.

The sensitive self can see beauty in the little things, taste with pleasure as you savour a treat, and can daydream about when you next see someone you love dearly. Once you're in the moment, it is full of such sweetness whilst simultaneously experiencing the knowingness that this too shall pass.

It is both the gift and the challenge of feeling deeply, which is part and parcel of the sensitive soul.

Perhaps this is you?

Let me tell you a story about this flower. It began a couple of years ago when a dear friend passed over, quite suddenly.

One of my best friends and I have supported each other through our shared grief and loss and love for our friend.

My friend gave me a bunch of this flower (Everlasting/Paper Daisy) to hang in my house in honour of our friend who had passed. We always see it in nature and think of him.

Sometimes, it's painful.

Sometimes, it's lovely.

So, last week, my friend/soul sista and I went to our first ever retreat together. Upon arrival, outside our room only was this flower. Our flower. His flower.

And immediately, I knew he was with us. That he was saying "I'm with you". In that moment, he was not gone. He was here, in spirit. And I can't express enough the gratitude I have for this flower and the messages we receive from those who are in spirit form. And of course, for my dear friend who walks this magnificent life by my side.

Fear. There are so many layers as to why we may feel fear. Sometimes, we don't look to things like our authentic light and our incredible power as being a trigger to our fear. Yet, it can be beneath some of the most common coping mechanisms that we apply to try and 'keep the peace' or remain 'part of the group'.

Perhaps you hold yourself back for fear of upsetting your family?

Perhaps you feel that truly sharing your skills and abilities in the workplace will cause tension or conflict (often among the more ego-based colleagues)?

Or do you fear that shining your authentic light among friends will highlight your differences?

This is all connected to a deep need to feel and be safe in the world, be it physically, emotionally, mentally or energetically.

When you close your eyes, how would you feel if you gave yourself permission to acknowledge your fear and at the same time action your light? What would life look like for you?

We have been exploring fear, family and identity and the Base Chakra in the first week of my Align & Shine chakra course.

I'll be running this beautiful reflective and transformative course online in 2024 — so keep in touch so you can join me 😍 xkpx

ONE WEEK TO GO and I thought you might like to read about what previous people who have attended my 7 week chakra course have said. The warm and supportive group energy each time I run Align & Shine is one of the key reasons I come back and run it again.

If you're in Canberra and surrounds, jump on Eventbrite (link in bio) and grab a ticket. There's so much to explore and learn for daily life through the chakra system. How many times have we expressed "I wish I had more tools" or "I wish I understood what was happening". This is part of the skills you develop in Align & Shine.

Plus, it's a whole lotta fun 😊

So grab one of the last few tickets and come and join me! I'd love to see you there 🙏
