At Southlands General Practice, our priority has always been to provide quality healthcare, not quick healthcare.
The Australian Government has recently introduced a Universal Bulk Billing Program that mainly increases rebates for short consultations. Unfortunately, this system favours fast, in-and-out appointments rather than allowing doctors the time needed for thorough assessments, complex care, and meaningful patient relationships.
For this reason, we have decided not to join the universal bulk billing program. We believe that quality care takes time, and we cannot compromise our standards or the level of attention our patients deserve.
We will continue to bulk bill:
• Patients over 65 years of age, and
• Patients under 16 years of age.
For patients in between these age groups, a small gap fee will continue to apply.
