Meet Melissa Morrison, Medical Receptionist at SkinGP Woodend.

Melissa has lived in the Macedon Ranges her whole life, so when patients walk through the door, there's a good chance she already knows them. That familiarity is something she genuinely loves about the role.

She came to SkinGP in August 2025 after ten years working in optics - caring for people in a different context, but with the same instinct. Skin cancer medicine was a completely new world to her when she started, and she'll be the first to say she was blown away by the technology and by just how important regular skin checks are. It's the kind of thing you don't think about until you're in the middle of it every day.

Outside the clinic, she's outdoors with her kids, making the most of everything the Macedon Ranges has to offer.

We're glad to have her as part of the team.

There's a reason experienced skin cancer doctors seek out a clinic like SkinGP Woodend. When everyone in the room is focused on the same specialty, every day, that shared knowledge and care flows directly to the patient.

We're grateful to have Dr Rhian Pickard's experience and skills as part of that.

When a procedure is recommended at SkinGP Woodend, you're not just in the hands of one doctor.

Our clinical team - doctors, skin cancer nurses, and support staff - works together in a purpose-built facility designed specifically for this work. The same team, the same rooms, the same equipment, every day. That consistency matters when it comes to skin cancer treatment, and it's one of the things that separates a dedicated skin cancer clinic from a general practice setting.

No referral required to book. If you've got a spot you're concerned about, call us directly on (03) 9969 5000.

Meet Nakita Reitano, Medical Receptionist at SkinGP Woodend.

Nakita grew up in Romsey and Lancefield, so the Macedon Ranges has always been home. She came to SkinGP with a background in medical reception and a genuine love of making patients feel at ease from the moment they walk in - something she thinks comes naturally in a clinic that's dedicated entirely to skin cancer care.

There's a comfort in knowing that's all we do here, and patients feel that.

When she's not at the clinic, Nakita is out on 80 acres in Spring Hill with her partner, a herd of goats, cows, and a lifestyle that's as regional VIC as it as it gets!

We're glad to have her as part of the team.

Some skin cancer doctors come to the field through general practice. Dr Rhian Pickard came through surgical training in burns and plastics, where she spent a year treating patients with advanced melanoma - complex surgeries, difficult outcomes, and cases that could have gone differently with an earlier diagnosis.

That experience is what drives her approach to dermoscopy and early detection at SkinGP Woodend today. It's also what makes her story worth hearing directly.

What a Sunday we were gifted for the Woodend Melanoma March. Beautiful autumn conditions and an incredible turnout from the Macedon Ranges community, those in attendance connecting and socialising well past the conclusion of the walk itself.

Melanoma March Woodend has now raised $13,422 (and counting) for life-saving melanoma research through Melanoma Institute Australia. Across all Melanoma March events nationally, $595,322 has been raised toward a $600,000 goal - and there's still time to help get it there.

If you were there on Sunday, thank you. If you couldn't make it but want to contribute, donations are still open. You can give directly to Woodend participants and teams, or donate to the national Melanoma March campaign, via the link below.

Every dollar funds research that is working toward zero deaths from melanoma.

This Sunday. Campaspe Park, Woodend. 8:30am.

Last year's crowd gathered right here and helped make Melanoma March Woodend one of the best community events in the Macedon Ranges calendar. This year we're hoping to go bigger - and with over $8,900 already raised for Melanoma Institute Australia, we're well on our way. There's still time to register.

Adults are $40, kids aged 5–17 are $20, and under 5s are free. A family ticket covering two adults and up to five kids is $80. The walking route is pram and wheelchair accessible, dogs are welcome on a lead, and SkinGP is putting on a free sausage sizzle and water on the day.

The morning kicks off with talks from our doctors and a melanoma patient, the walk starts at 9am, and we wrap up by 11am - a great few hours out with the family for a cause that genuinely matters.

Can't make it in person? You can still donate to a participant or to the Woodend event directly at the link below.

We’re calling on locals and local businesses and the community to help make it a success:

✔ DONATE! Attend the walk or donate via Melanoma Institute Australia
✔ Spread the word by sharing this post

Together, we can make a local impact on a national cause!
