Meet Nakita Reitano, Medical Receptionist at SkinGP Woodend.

Nakita grew up in Romsey and Lancefield, so the Macedon Ranges has always been home. She came to SkinGP with a background in medical reception and a genuine love of making patients feel at ease from the moment they walk in - something she thinks comes naturally in a clinic that's dedicated entirely to skin cancer care.

There's a comfort in knowing that's all we do here, and patients feel that.

When she's not at the clinic, Nakita is out on 80 acres in Spring Hill with her partner, a herd of goats, cows, and a lifestyle that's as regional VIC as it as it gets!

We're glad to have her as part of the team.

Some skin cancer doctors come to the field through general practice. Dr Rhian Pickard came through surgical training in burns and plastics, where she spent a year treating patients with advanced melanoma - complex surgeries, difficult outcomes, and cases that could have gone differently with an earlier diagnosis.

That experience is what drives her approach to dermoscopy and early detection at SkinGP Woodend today. It's also what makes her story worth hearing directly.

What a Sunday we were gifted for the Woodend Melanoma March. Beautiful autumn conditions and an incredible turnout from the Macedon Ranges community, those in attendance connecting and socialising well past the conclusion of the walk itself.

Melanoma March Woodend has now raised $13,422 (and counting) for life-saving melanoma research through Melanoma Institute Australia. Across all Melanoma March events nationally, $595,322 has been raised toward a $600,000 goal - and there's still time to help get it there.

If you were there on Sunday, thank you. If you couldn't make it but want to contribute, donations are still open. You can give directly to Woodend participants and teams, or donate to the national Melanoma March campaign, via the link below.

Every dollar funds research that is working toward zero deaths from melanoma.

This Sunday. Campaspe Park, Woodend. 8:30am.

Last year's crowd gathered right here and helped make Melanoma March Woodend one of the best community events in the Macedon Ranges calendar. This year we're hoping to go bigger - and with over $8,900 already raised for Melanoma Institute Australia, we're well on our way. There's still time to register.

Adults are $40, kids aged 5–17 are $20, and under 5s are free. A family ticket covering two adults and up to five kids is $80. The walking route is pram and wheelchair accessible, dogs are welcome on a lead, and SkinGP is putting on a free sausage sizzle and water on the day.

The morning kicks off with talks from our doctors and a melanoma patient, the walk starts at 9am, and we wrap up by 11am - a great few hours out with the family for a cause that genuinely matters.

Can't make it in person? You can still donate to a participant or to the Woodend event directly at the link below.

Melanoma is one of the most common cancers in Australia, and one of the most preventable when caught early.

Knowing the facts is the first step. Regular skin checks, sun protection, and early action make a real difference.

If it has been a while since your last skin check, now is a good time to book.

Meet Robyn Zumstein, Skin Cancer Nurse at SkinGP Woodend.

Robyn brings warmth, patience, and a deep understanding of what it feels like to be a patient herself. Whether you're anxious about a procedure or just need a little reassurance, she takes the time to read each situation and respond with care.

Her advice? Don't put off your skin health. Protecting your skin now is always easier than dealing with the consequences later.

When she's not in the clinic, you'll find Robyn training on the slopes of Mount Macedon - getting her feet off the ground on her paraglider.

We're proud to have her as part of our team.

If you’ve never had a skin check before, knowing what to expect can make all the difference.

At SkinGP, a full skin check begins with total body imaging using advanced skin mapping technology. Our doctors then assess the entire body with a dermatoscope, looking closely for any changes in the skin that may need further review.

We’ll take the time to explain any concerns and discuss your options with clarity and care. No referral is needed; just book directly.

Early detection can be life saving. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Book online or call (03) 9969 5000.

Every 30 minutes, another Australian is diagnosed with melanoma.

It’s a reminder that this is not a rare disease - it affects families, workplaces and communities across the country. The good news is that when detected early, melanoma can often be treated successfully.

Protect your skin, know what’s normal for you, and don’t delay a skin check if something changes.

Thank you to Melanoma Institute Australia for continuing to raise awareness and drive research forward.
