Organ regeneration refers to the body's natural ability to repair or regrow damaged tissue or organs, a capability that varies significantly across different species and organs. While the human liver possesses remarkable regenerative power, most human organs, including the heart and brain, have limited ability to repair, often resulting in scar tissue instead of full tissue restoration. Research in stem cell therapy and tissue engineering aims to harness these processes to regenerate or replace damaged human tissues and organs.

অঙ্গ পুনর্জন্ম বলতে শরীরের ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত টিস্যু বা অঙ্গ মেরামত বা পুনরুজ্জীবিত করার স্বাভাবিক ক্ষমতাকে বোঝায়, যা বিভিন্ন প্রজাতি এবং অঙ্গভেদে উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে পরিবর্তিত হয়। যদিও মানুষের লিভারের অসাধারণ পুনর্জন্ম ক্ষমতা রয়েছে, তবুও হৃদপিণ্ড এবং মস্তিষ্ক সহ বেশিরভাগ মানব অঙ্গের মেরামত করার ক্ষমতা সীমিত, যার ফলে প্রায়শই সম্পূর্ণ টিস্যু পুনরুদ্ধারের পরিবর্তে দাগযুক্ত টিস্যু তৈরি হয়। স্টেম সেল থেরাপি এবং টিস্যু ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং-এর গবেষণার লক্ষ্য হল ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত মানব টিস্যু এবং অঙ্গগুলির পুনর্জন্ম বা প্রতিস্থাপনের জন্য এই প্রক্রিয়াগুলিকে কাজে লাগানো।
