প্রতিদিন, কিছু দেব শিশুর সাথে আমার দেখা হয়।
ফুলের মত নিষ্পাপ, চাঁদের মত সুন্দর, এই ছোট্ট বাবুগুলো দুঃখজনক ভাবে বিভিন্ন ধরনের শারীরিক জটিলতা আর অসুস্থতা নিয়ে আমার কাছে আসে।
অন্তরের অন্তস্থল থেকে চাই দ্রুততম সময়ে এবং সহজতম উপায়ে যেন তারা সুস্থ হয়ে ওঠে।
একান্ত বাধ্য না হলে আমি কোন বাচ্চার অপারেশন করতে চাই না।
আসুন আজকের দেব শিশুদের সাথে আপনাদের পরিচয় করিয়ে দিই।
নিজেদের প্রার্থনায় ওদের সুস্থতার জন্য একটি মিনিট যদি বরাদ্দ করেন, আজীবন কৃতজ্ঞ থাকব।

কসমেটিক ডিভাইস খতনা।
ব্যথামুক্ত, সেলাইবিহীন, রক্তপাত বিহীন খতনা।
এসকল চটকদার বিজ্ঞাপনে আকৃষ্ট হয়ে অনেকেই আজকাল ছুটে যান কসমেটিক ডিভাইস খতনা করাতে।
কিন্তু এর খারাপ দিকগুলো সম্পর্কে আমাদের অনেকেরই কোনো ধারণা নেই। গত দুই বছর বিশেষ করে গত এক বছরে প্রায় প্রতি সপ্তাহেই দুই/একটি করে রুগী পাই যারা এই কসমেটিক ডিভাইস খতনা এর কুফল ভোগ করে ভুক্তভুগী হয়ে আমাদের কাছে আসছেন। প্রথম প্রথম ফিরিয়ে দিতাম। কারণ অন্যের কুকর্মের সমাধান আমি কেন করব?? তার উপর এই স্পর্শ কাতর অঙ্গে একাধিকবার অপারেশন করা অত্যন্ত কষ্টের এবং ঝুঁকিপূর্ণও বটে। কিন্তু তারপর নিষ্পাপ ছোট ছোট বাচ্চা গুলোর কান্না আর কষ্ট দেখে ফেরাতে পারতাম না। তারপর ও ভেবেছিলাম এটা নিয়ে কিছু বলবো না কারণ অনেকেই ভাববেন প্রফেশনাল জেলাছি থেকে হয়তো বলছি। কিন্তু এটা এখন এমন মাত্রাতিরিক্ত পর্যায়ে চলে গিয়েছে যে আজ আর না লিখে পারলাম না।
কসমেটিক শব্দটা আসলে এখানে পুরোটাই বিজ্ঞাপন। ঠিক যেমন ডিজিটাল শব্দটি।
দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই এই প্রসিডিওর এর ভুক্তভুগী রুগীদের পাচ্ছি। কারো চামড়া বেশি থেকে যাচ্ছে, কারো লিঙ্গের মাথা অর্ধেক কেটে আসছে, কারো সম্পূর্ণ লিঙ্গ ফুলে প্রস্রাব বন্ধ করে নিয়ে আসছে। কেউ কেউ আসছে মাসের পর মাস ইনফেকশন ও পুঁজ পড়ার অবর্ণনীয় কষ্ট নিয়ে, কেউ আসছে লিঙ্গের অর্ধেক পঁচে যাওয়া চামড়া নিয়ে। কারো কারো লিঙ্গের মুখ বন্ধ হয়ে প্রস্রাব আটকে বাচ্চা চিৎকার করতে করতে আসছে।
বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রেই আমাদের পুনরায় খতনা করতে হয়েছে।এই ছোট বয়সে স্পর্শ কাতর স্থানে একাধিকবার অপারেশনের কষ্ট ও দিনের পর দিন ব্যাথা, বাচ্চার মনোজগতে একধরনের আতঙ্ক তৈরি করে। যা তার ভবিষ্যৎ জীবনে অনেক বিরূপ প্রভাব ফেলতে পারে। তাছাড়াও অভিভাবকদের আর্থিক ক্ষতি, মানসিক যন্ত্রণা সহ এক খতনার পেছনে যে সময়টুকু অতিবাহিত হয় সেটার কথা নাইবা বললাম।
কসমেটিক ডিভাইস খতনা একটা নতুন ও আধুনিক প্রযুক্তি। আমি ব্যাক্তিগত ভাবে এটা প্র্যাক্টিস করিনা তবে আমি এর বিরুদ্ধে নই। আপনারা যারা করতে চান, অবশ্যই একজন বিশেষজ্ঞ ডাক্তার, যিনি এই প্রযুক্তিতে ভালো ভাবে প্রশিক্ষণ প্রাপ্ত, তাকে দিয়ে করাবেন। অন্যথায় বাণিজ্যিক প্রতিষ্ঠানের চটকদার বিজ্ঞাপনে আকৃষ্ট হয়ে প্রকৃত ডাক্তার ছাড়া কাউকে দিয়ে ডিভাইস খতনা করিয়ে নিজের সন্তানকে অবর্ণনীয় কষ্ট দিলে সেটার দায়ভার সম্পূর্ণ আপনার।
নিচে শুধু একটা বাবুর কসমেটিক ডিভাইস খতনা এর পরের চিত্র দিলাম। বাচ্চাটির প্রস্রাবের মুখ সম্পূর্ণ বন্ধ হয়ে চিৎকার করতে করতে নিয়ে এসেছিল। পরবর্তীতে আমাদের আবার খতনা করতে হয়েছে। কোনটা কসমেটিক বিচারের ভার আপনাদের।
ফেসবুকের বাধ্যবাধকতার জন্য ছবিগুলোকে একটু মডিফাই করে দেয়া হলো অন্যথায় ফেসবুক ছবিগুলোকে বারবার মুছে দিচ্ছে।

He was admitted to the 250-bed General Hospital's diarrhea ward with diarrhea and vomiting. Since the condition has not improved, Dr. Yakub Ali Munshi, respected consultant and assistant professor, performed the ultrasonography. Intussusception was caught in the report. It is a disease in which one part of the intestine penetrates into another part and after entering, it continues to move forward with a twist. Sometimes even the intestine comes out through the anas. This causes the baby to have abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, and sometimes loose stool.
After receiving the report, Reverend Sir asked me to see the child. When I saw the baby at night, he had severe abdominal pain and vomiting. The relatives of the patient were so weak financially that they could not even afford to give visit to the doctor. I asked the child to be transferred to the 3no ward of Sadar Hospital with necessary treatment and instructed my on-duty intern doctor to take necessary steps for emergency operation today.
Thanks to the tremendous efforts of my on-duty intern physicians and the extraordinary collaboration of Sisters, Brothers and especially the Anesthesia Department in the 250-bed General Hospital Operation Theater, we were able to begin the operation at one o'clock in the afternoon. Inside the baby's abdomen, a large portion of the intestine passed through the ascending, transverse, and descending colon. Caecum and appendix entered first and travelled the whole length upto descending colon. If the baby had not been operated on today, a large portion of the intestine would have gangrened and it would not have been possible to save the baby.
By the infinite mercy of Allah, we were able to save the entire intestine in about an hour's effort. God is the owner of doing good, we have tried our best. Surgery is a team service. The key to success is the sincere participation of all members of the team. No one promotes the our dedication, and struggle that we do everyday to save every life.

ফরহাদ। বয়স ১৫ দিন।
আমার কাছে যখন আসে, তখনো সে একটিবারও বুকের দুধ পরিপূর্ণভাবে খেতে পারেনি। যতটুকুই খায়, বমি করে ফেলে দেয়। জন্মের পর থেকেই এই সমস্যায় ভুগছিলেন ছেলেটি। পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষার পর পাওয়া গেল infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS).
এটি একটি জন্মগত খাদ্যনালীর সংকোচন জনিত সমস্যা। এতে কোনভাবেই খাবার পাকস্থলীর পরবর্তী অংশে যেতে পারে না। ফলে বাচ্চা খেলেই বমি করে এবং ধীরে ধীরে দুর্বলতা, রক্তশূন্যতা ও লবন এর তারতম্যের কারণে খুব দ্রুত খারাপ হয়ে যায়। সমস্যা ছিল একটি, এত কম বয়সের বাচ্চার অ্যানেসথেসিয়া কে দিবে??
সাহস করে বাচ্চাকে ভর্তি দিয়ে ফেললাম। অ্যানেসথেসিয়া বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক ডাক্তার মনোয়ার স্যার কে অনুরোধ করে ফেললাম। স্যার রাজি হয়ে গেলেন। মাত্র ১৮ দিন বয়সে ২৫০ শয্যা জেনারেল হাসপাতাল নোয়াখালী তে প্রথমবারের মতো সার্জারি বিভাগ এবং অপারেশন থিয়েটারের সকলের সহযোগিতায় আমরা করে ফেললাম Ramstedt's pyloromyotomy.
কাল অপারেশন পরবর্তী চতুর্থ দিনে আল্লাহর অশেষ রহমতে বাচ্চাটি সম্পূর্ণভাবে সুস্থ হয়ে উঠেছে। এখন সে স্বাভাবিকভাবেই মায়ের বুকের দুধ খেতে পারছে এবং খাবার পর বমি হচ্ছে না।
