🩺 Echo & gastroscopy

Dr. Katherine and Dr. Katleen start with an ultrasound exam, followed by a gastroscopy. You can see how a full stomach makes it harder to visualise the stomach lining, which is why fasting beforehand is so important for an accurate exam.

🐴 Pelvic lipomas

This pony was brought to us with difficulty urinating (stranguria) and vaginal discharge. A CT scan showed two masses near the bladder in the pelvic area. The masses were diagnosed as lipomas (benign fatty tumors), pressing on the urinary tract and causing the clinical signs.

We performed surgery in two stages:
1️⃣ Laparoscopy to assess the masses and begin dissection.
2️⃣ General anesthesia and laparotomy to fully remove the lipomas.

The pony recovered well and is currently living in Denmark.
