Why the Digital Product Passport?
The Digital Product Passport’s entry into the European Union market is imminent. It is a mandatory, digitally accessible data structure that will contain regulatory driven information about products.
Through a single scan, economic operators along the supply chains, regulatory authorities and consumers will be able to access the mandatory information they need.
This new way of disclosing product information has the ambition to optimise data exchange along value chains.
Through Identification, Capture and Share, provided by G51 Standards, the overall process is simplitied tor all involved stakeholders.

GS1 transforming tomorrow. 50 years ago, the GS1 barcode was created to transform grocery shopping and empower more reliable and resilient supply chains.

Industry leaders came together to transform the way we shop and created the barcode. From that point forward, a simple scan at checkout connected a physical product to its digital identity—and information that could be shared in stores and throughout the supply chain.

Since then, GS1 standards have powered more reliable and transparent supply chains across industries.
