Today is the World Mental Health Day!

This year's theme is "Psychological First Aid", encompassing psychological and social support by anyone who involve themselves in a helping role, regardless of their occupation.

It puts an emphasis on the importance of mental health in general health care, which conventionally focuses on physical health.

Efforts are being invested into providing psychological first aid for anyone experiencing acute distress or a crisis so that basic support or first aid is readily available and accessible, from general health, mental health as well as social services.

Take part in lending a helping hand, even if it only involves sitting down and having a small chat over a cup of tea or coffee!

Have a great day ahead!

Exercise is great for your physical and mental health

So what are you waiting for? Get up from that couch and get that heart rate up!

You had advocated the change you wish to see.

You helped the once bare tree to bud leaves of hope.

Your voices are heard.

Be the advocate to change, break the stigma against mental illnesses.

DID YOU KNOW?

A counselling unit is present that offers counselling services to those who need guidance or help and those experiencing academic struggles.

However, there are currently only TWO counsellors to cater the whole of UBD.

What kind of change would you like to see in UBD?

What services would you like UBD to provide you with in terms of helping you throughout your academic years in UBD?

Drop by the Student Centre tomorrow to voice out your opinion on the wishing tree!

Last chance tomorrow!

All feedbacks will be relayed to Student Affairs in hopes for a change to tailor your needs!

BE THE ADVOCATE TO CHANGE!

DID YOU KNOW?

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

The theme for 2014 is “Living with schizophrenia”. The focus of the World Health Organization will be living a healthy life with schizophrenia.
