Kari is officially 2 years old!! Happy birthday my princess 🎉❤️
You have experienced so much in just your first 2 years. You are doing fantastic learning how to be a medical alert dog. You find friends wherever you go. You have traveled from the USA all the way to Brazil to build a better life with me.
We have helped educate so many people about service dogs, and advocated together for animals, disabled folk and the environment.
We are soul mates, and together we have gone so far. You have helped me heal my mind, heart and soul. You help my medical problems every day. You are an amazing dog, and I couldn't have gotten a better teammate in life.
I love you so much ❤️ Happy Birthday 🎂

Kari reminds me everyday that the little things are what makes the world go round. She's not just a medical alert dog, she has also been so many life lessons. There's a lot to learn from our dogs, pets, and nature around us. Let them help you slow your world down.

The teenager phase:

Last night, someone did fireworks right next to where we are staying, surprising everyone! Yes Kari has seen and trained around fireworks and loud noises, but as a teenager, she is like a puppy. The big difference is, she won't just do whatever I say like she would as a puppy.

This really scared her, to the point she feels nervous in the front yard at night (where she is in this picture). So we are working on being comfortable in the yard again, and will soon redo firework training. Yes it's repetitive, but we have to remember that this is a time in a dog's (or humans) life where emotions are high, the hormones are changing, but having similar critical thinking like an adult would.

So, this is a reminder, to go at the teenagers pace. Don't rush them. Don't spoil them either. They are all learning to be a part of this world (for all animals including humans). They need guidance, and love. With this, they will become amazing adults.

Keep the door open for them, don't shut them out.
