MOB - help me choose
Event: Daughter's Wedding outdoors at a mountain ranch, October. Daughter wearing A-Line, strapless, it has detailed lace/appliqué flors on front and white - and she's wearing white cowboy boots. Colors of the wedding are: dark sage, burnt orange, light peach, dark peach...so autumn/fall. No bridesmaids no groomsmen. Groom in a dark beige suit, with a cowboy hat. The only other really visible one will be my son walking her down the aisle, but will be in his military uniform.
I need help with selecting MOB dress. My daughter says I'm overthinking it, but what I try on seems too "matronly", too "bridesmaid", too understated, too overstated. I've been scrolling through the Tedooo app for inspiration - beyond just shopping there, I also sell my alterations work on the platform, so I'm connected with some seriously talented sewists and designers who share their formal wear projects. Honestly it's made me second-guess everything even more. Please take a look at the 5 I'm pondering and rank, or critique. (The MOG had said she was looking at something in satin - similar to the last labeled photo. I don't necessarily want to coordinate with her, but thought that visual may help)

I need help!
I bought this dress after the salesperson promised the hips could be altered so the material didn’t pull in front. This is the final result, and it fits exactly the same as when I first tried it on a month ago. I was told they cannot alter it any further. Is the fit as bad as I think it is? They told me I could find another dress of equal or greater value to exchange it. They won’t refund me as the dress is now “damaged” after being altered. I’m so upset, and my wedding is in 9 days. My daughter wants me to wear it anyway, but I shouldn’t have to overlook the fit after spending so much money on it. I need advice, please. 😣

I just finished this crochet piece this week and I still haven't shown it to anyone. I got the pattern from one of the crochet groups on Tedooo. Here at home, they don’t think much of it and say I have no talent, so I prefer to post here and on Tedooo to see what you think about my work - constructive criticism so the next one comes out better. Maybe one day I’ll follow my little dream and open a shop on the Tedooo app for my crochet creations.
For now, I’m only buying there and using the groups and community, but maybe one day I’ll be able to sell my creations. I’m just not sure I have the talent. Any criticism is welcome so the next one turns out a bit better. Just please don’t curse me if you think it’s crazy ugly, just don’t comment if you think it’s crazy ugly. I still need to work on my confidence!

Help me pick! Only these please!
Torn between two dresses....
Okay okay. So I need to know all your thoughts. I think I know the answer but am feeling overwhelmed and emotional and need feedback that is not my family or best friends/bridesmaids because I am starting to feel like I have to find a dress everyone likes equally. I am getting married 11/16/25 for a courthouse ceremony in downtown Seattle and then we are renting out a waterside french restaurant in Pile Place for a fancy dinner party. About a 45 person affair with dancing and drinks after.
I thought dress A was going to be it. I hyped it up a lot to myself and my bridesmaids, and when I tried it on, I adored the neckline and corset style top. The problem is is I feel like it is flat from the waist down and also it has a very big slit that I am not only not a fan of the look, but I'm on the spectrum and the slit adds a lot of sensory. But it's the most favorite top part on any dress I've tried on. I feel pretty but almost feel like I am a guest at someone else's fancy dinner? If that makes sense?
And then there's just B. I was not expecting to like this dress at all thinking that it would make me look wide open that the neckline wasn't for me given I am significantly heavier then all the models I saw in it. And oh boy, was I wrong. I adore her. She fits me well and it's super comfortable. I can bend and dance, but it also feels like it fits the city vintage Seattle vibe. I posted about my search on the Tedooo app (I'm part of this amazing bridal DIY group where a maker who usually sells handmade veils and custom accessories actually gave me tons of styling advice!) and someone suggested I consider comfort for a long dinner reception. I also actually feel like a bride....
I guess I am just feeling hesitant to order dress B because it's non refundable and I am afraid of my anxiety/self doubt and of my people pleasing to get the best of me. So far my MIL and Aunt (surrogate mom) both like A and 2 of my bridesmaids too. 1/4 bridesmaids say they prefer dress A though. 1 had not responded yet but knowing her she will likely go for dress B.
I guess I was just hoping to see what some of you thought about which one looks best on me and fits the theme best? I am not sure why it's bothering me so much that my one best friend doesn't love it as much as the other one but I am trying to remember it's my day and my dress? Idk why is this so hard lol

I posted here a few days ago in full panic mode. My daughter's prom dress arrived and it was too small - like, significantly too small. The zipper wouldn't even close halfway. I was devastated because we'd already spent our budget and prom was in two weeks.
You all came through with the most incredible advice. Someone suggested adding a corset-style lace-up back, and several people walked me through exactly how to do it. I'm not a seamstress by any stretch, just a mom with a sewing machine and desperation.
I spent every evening this week working on it. Cut out the zipper, reinforced the edges, added modesty panels, and installed the lacing. My hands were shaking the whole time because what if I ruined it completely? But I kept thinking about your encouraging comments, and I pushed through.
This morning, she tried it on. The burgundy satin looks even more elegant with the corset back, and honestly? I think it looks better than the original design. She can breathe, she can move, and she feels beautiful.
I found the most gorgeous handmade shawl on the Tedooo app from a woman who does custom beadwork. It arrived yesterday and ties the whole look together perfectly. My daughter actually cried when she saw herself in the mirror.
So here it is - the before (gaping and impossible) and the after. I'm no professional, but I'm a mom who refused to let her daughter down. Be honest, how does it look? Because to me, it looks like love stitched into every seam.

Three weeks before prom, my daughter's best friend was crying in our kitchen because her family couldn't afford a dress and all the rental places were booked solid.
I'd been watching this sweet girl stress about prom for months while trying to hide her disappointment. Her parents work two jobs each just to keep the lights on, and a $400 dress was never going to happen. My daughter kept offering to lend her something, but they're completely different sizes.
That night I was digging through my craft supplies when I found this vintage 1960s ball gown pattern tucked inside an old sewing basket I'd bought at an estate sale. The illustration showed this gorgeous full-skirted dress that looked like something Grace Kelly would wear, and suddenly I had an idea.
"Mom, you should totally make her a dress," my daughter said when I showed her the pattern. "You're always sewing those cute bags for your Tedooo app shop. How hard could a dress be?"
Well, turns out there's a huge difference between making tote bags and constructing a formal gown. I hadn't sewn clothing in probably fifteen years, and this pattern was way more complicated than anything I'd attempted. But something about that girl's disappointed face made me determined to try.
The fitting sessions were disasters at first. The bodice was too loose, then too tight. I was ready to give up when the Tedooo community came through for me. I posted my struggles in one of the sewing groups there, and suddenly I had experienced seamstresses walking me through every tricky step, sharing their fitting secrets, even sending me encouragement when I wanted to quit.
When prom night arrived and I watched this beautiful young woman pose in that lavender gown, seeing her confidence bloom as she twirled in the full skirt - I've never felt prouder of anything I've created.
Sometimes the most important projects push us way beyond our comfort zone.

My Dream Come True Got told for many years a purple wedding dress wasn't realistic...but where there is a will there is a way. I got a dress on consignment and had it professionally dyed and it was the best decision I ever made!

The $50 dress of my dream -I had a world of trouble trying to find my dress for my September wedding. I wanted something unique, dramatic, and editorial. I wanted it to be appropriate for a second-time bride in her 30s (mature, but not matronly). I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg, and I want (in theory) to be able to wear it again.

I ended up buying a total of five dresses from thrift stores and online clearance sales, I brought two of them with me on our 2000 mile trip to my hometown for the wedding, and I ultimately decided on the one I went with 4 days before the wedding. It is an Azazie dress that I got steeply discounted, then added the flower details from a Vera Wang couture dress that I adored but was never ever going to fit me. The brooch in the center of the larger flower is a family heirloom given to me by my mother in law to be my “something old”.

I couldn’t be happier with my choice. It ticked all my boxes, fit perfectly, was comfortable and easy to dance in, and is totally unique to me. I would choose my $50 dress over any $5000 dress on the market.

Worried I’ve got the wrong dress

I bought this dress for £50 BNWT from Vinted a few months ago, it’s a little snug across my hips but I’m actively trying to lose a little weight before our wedding in April.

I fell in love with the detailing as we’re having a hobbit-esque wedding and felt it fit the theme while still feeling classy.

However, I tried it on this weekend and I’m worried it doesn’t fit me well or flatter me at all. (Please excuse the bra, I’m planning on having it altered so the plunge isn’t as revealing.) It’s also still snug across my hips, despite dropping a dress size.

I’m debating if this is actually the right dress and if it would suit me more to have something with more shape. I’m also concerned that if I don’t lose more weight from my hips then even alterations won’t be able to save it.

Do I just cut my losses and look for another dress or am I too in my head about it?

my normally dull life got a bit of excitement yesterday from the cat distribution system. This brave little soul hitched a ride in the underside of a semi cab that picks up where I work. After some persuading and reaching I got him out. I wasn't going to keep him but he's growing on me. I'm looking for name suggestions as I'm at a loss. Bonus points if it's a travel cat kind of name.
Womens shoe size 8. No bananas in the car.
**ETA: Wow! Thank-you for all of the wonderful suggestions and nice comments.
The winner was Cletus.
To answer some of the questions: 1- I was hoping to find his people so the first stop after work was the local vet clinic to have him scanned for a microchip - no luck. 2 - he rode 40 miles on a Freight Line truck with a driver named Bob for the F&F company. Bob will now be forever known as the cat guy as he picks up 3 days a week for Cat(erpillar). 3 - to those that suggested Indiana for a name, I like it, but he has a big sister named Indiana.
