MATERNAL MORTALITY AND MORBIDITY MEETING
Health service providers in Mahalapye convened this morning to deliberate on critical issues surrounding maternal mortality and morbidity in the district. The meeting brought together key stakeholders to review maternal health outcomes, and strengthen strategies aimed at safeguarding the lives and well-being of mothers. It also assess current health challenges faced in district.
Discussions focused on improving access to quality antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care services, early identification and management of high-risk pregnancies, and strengthening referral systems across facilities. Participants also emphasized the importance of promoting positive health-seeking behavior among expectant mothers, encouraging early booking for antenatal care, adherence to medical advice, and timely presentation to health facilities during emergencies.
The team comprised health service providers from Mahalapye District Hospital, Sefhare Primary Hospital, and Primary Healthcare services within the district. Their collective commitment highlights a unified approach to reducing preventable maternal deaths and complications, while ensuring safer pregnancies and improved maternal health outcomes across the district.
When closing the meeting, Mahalapye District Hospital Superintendent, Dr Kagiso Tshegetsang applaud everyone for attending the meeting. He encouraged constructive participation and support to ensure desired health outcomes.
