Courtesy Call by Botswana Nurses Union (BONU)

The Botswana Nurses Union (BONU) leadership paid a courtesy call to Mahalapye District Hospital management yesterday. The newly elected BONU Executive Committee was led by Vice President Labour, Mr Thabiso Mhlauli and Vice President Professional Affairs, Ms Kenewang Motshegwa.

During the engagement, the hospital management highlighted several key areas which include uniform allowance, disciplinary Actions, promotions, overtime pay as well as staffing and resources.

The BONU Vice President Mr Mhlauli expressed appreciation for the positive working relationship between the hospital management and the BONU local committee; he acknowledged challenges raised, urging the management to work towards closing gaps identified, especially where their members are concerned.

BUMMHI ENGAGES MAHALAPYE DISTRICT HOSPITAL AND PRIMARY HEALTHCARE

The Chief Executive Officer for BUMMHI, Dr Ndwapi NDWAPI together with the Director Dr Kgwaadira met with health management in the district on Tuesday, 11th November 2025. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and map a way forward concerning the support they render to the district on issues of HIV/AIDS. The meeting was also attended by program officers and other implementing stakeholders. BUMMHI has been supporting Mahalapye District since it's existence in the past 10 years, and continued to promise the same support.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY- PINK FRIDAY

This morning, staff and patients at Mahalapye District Hospital gathered to commemorate those affected by breast cancer, marking the end of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event was held under the theme “Every story is unique, every journey matters.”

During the event, Dr. Phetogo, the Senior Medical Officer from the surgical team, emphasized the importance of regular breast cancer screening, noting that self-examination can be done at home, with further assessment available at the hospital. The Orthotist, Mr Dumisani Nunu said the hospital offers artificial breast fitting; adding that after one had undergone the surgery, it is crucial to retain their confidence by giving the artificial breasts. The day was filled with unity and hope, as both men and women donned pink outfits to show their support and solidarity in the fight against breast cancer

DEBONAIRS MAHALAPYE KEPT ITS PROMISE TO THE HOSPITAL
Debonairs Mahalapye has continued its corporate social responsibility initiative by fulfilling its promise to support Mahalapye District Hospital. As part of their ongoing nine-month donation program, the franchise provided printing papers to the hospital for the month of October, following previous contributions of patient toiletries and other essential items.
