Happy World Pharmacist Day! 💊👩🏾‍⚕️👨🏽‍⚕️

Medicines are powerful—but sometimes they act like teenagers at a party. They don’t always get along with each other… or with your food! 😅

Here are some “drama stories” straight from the medicine cabinet:

Ciprofloxacin + Milk 🥛 → The antibiotic gets lazy, takes a nap, and won’t fight your infection properly.

Metronidazole (Flagyl) + Alcohol 🍺 → That combo will have your stomach doing backflips 🤢—trust me, not fun.

Amlodipine + Grapefruit Juice 🍊 → Grapefruit isn’t just juicy, it makes your blood pressure pill too strong (hello dizziness!).

Losartan + Bananas 🍌 → Extra potassium builds up—your heart might not enjoy that “banana party.”

Warfarin + Spinach 🥬 → Your blood thinner suddenly refuses to work, because spinach sneaks in too much Vitamin K.

👉 Moral of the story: Your pharmacist is basically the relationship counselor for your meds and meals. We make sure they all play nicely together so YOU stay safe and healthy.

Shortage of medicines in Botswana public health facilities should be treated as a crises that will exacerbate the already compromised health system of our country.

Pharmacists and pharmacy technician can play a big role in navigating around these shortages by rationing limited medicines, providing therapeutic alternatives and modifying drug administration routes.
