April 23 2026

I picked a guy up today from the ferry in tsawassen as he had a bed lined up in a treatment centre in maple ridge.

As we drove to the centre, he told me about his life and how he was homeless for some time and burnt all his bridges and was “just done”…. He got emotional when he told me about his 13 year old son that was watching his every move and he was scared that his son will end up in his shoes in no time so he wants to be a better example and fight for his son and show him what sobriety is like.

We made it to the facility and he was so happy that he has another opportunity to make things right in his life, and rebuild the relationships he’s destroyed.

Please pray for this man, that the Lord will get ahold of his heart and heal the things that are causing him to escape reality. There is hope, there is freedom, and a “good life waiting” ❤️❤️❤️

This is the positive news I have to share.

The sad news is have to share- we’ve lost 2 more unhoused friends this week in Abby. 2 more men won’t see their kids again, 2 more families lost a son. 😢😭💔

If you know anyone OR are struggling with addiction that needs some help getting into treatment fast-please give us a call, we are happy to help people jump through the hoops and if we can’t help-we know lots of people that can and we will make the connections.

We care 🫶🏼❤️

Today was a really special day for me and here’s why….

All through life I had addiction issues and I had a church family at Westbank Bible Chapel (WBC) that loved me through it all, and supported and loved our family through some really dark times that almost consumed us, but we’re all on the other side of it, and loving life thanks to some really great people not giving up on our family and the power of Jesus reconciling us back together.

A few months ago I had a phone call with a member of leadership of WBC- Mike, and he expressed his heart to serve the local unhoused individuals in his community and this conversation led to a team of people (that I’ve known my whole life) coming down to “shadow” GZM and see how we operate, how we make connections, how we serve and how we share the gospel.

Mike, Andy, Stu, Denise, Silas and Jordan joined our team and jumped in with both feet and there were no hiccups-just smooth sailing as we went from stop to stop, feeding our friends and watching the Lord work in the hearts of the ones we served, and also the ones that were serving.

When God plants seeds in our hearts, He opens doors like no one expects and all we have to do is walk through it- and that’s how GZM was started…. It will be very interesting to see what the Lord will do next, these are some very “qualified” AND “called” people to start their own ministry-or chapter of GZM…. We’ll just watch and see 🤗❤️🫶🏼

Thank you for joining us today-it was a honour to share our ministry with the ones who have supported and loved me through my addiction and now get to see how we’re doing it for others down here 🫶🏼❤️

Yesterday I was blessed to drop someone off at detox as this was set up by an awesome lookout employee that truly cares about her clients and goes above and beyond. 🙌❤️

Then we had our community outreach at 6 pm where we met at the cross roads restaurant where we had our meeting, then shuffled off to our first destination to hand out food, see our friends and give them encouragement and some literature that will change their lives if applied and followed (we hope and pray for seeds to be planted through this)

We had an excellent time going from stop to stop, and all the folks that were fed were so grateful for the food prepared by The Salvation Army Centre of Hope - Abbotsford-IT’S ALWAYS IS AMAZING!!

Please say a prayer for the one soul that made it into detox, as she is fighting to regain her life back, and the so many lost souls we have on the streets that are searching for peace and rest but are looking in all the wrong places.

❤️HAPPY EASTER❤️

So many things have happened in the last few weeks, it’s hard to keep up with social media but here goes….

Here’s a quick update..

We’ve lost 2 more friends that were living in a SRO here in Abbotsford. RIP KENNY & DENNIS

There was a homicide at Whatcom trailer camp, a few days later there was a fire and a few hours after they arrested someone in the camp connected to the investigation. RIP FRANK ❤️

We were blessed to see our friends Peter and Simone and they are doing well.

This last month GZM was able to get 4 people into treatment thanks to JH and VQ working with us to take in our friends immediately so they can begin the process of recovery.

Thank you to The Salvation Army Centre of Hope - Abbotsford for continuing to provide us with such delicious food to hand out to our “urban outdoorsmen” friends 🫶🏼❤️

And from our team at GZM, we wish you all a very happy Easter as we celebrate the death and resurrection of our Christ, Jesus. ❤️

At TYDEL FOODS, we’ve launched a petition because what’s happening to our seniors in British Columbia is not acceptable - and it’s time people understood exactly why.

This petition lays it out clearly:

1- First - the reality
Seniors are living on fixed incomes that have NOT kept up with rising costs.
Housing is up. Food is up. Utilities are up.
Everything is up.
But their income isn’t.

2- Second - the impact

Because of this, seniors are now:
• Facing food insecurity
• Struggling to keep stable housing
• Living in constant stress just trying to survive

3- Third - the hidden truth
When a senior loses a spouse, they often drop to a single pension.
That one loss can push them straight into poverty - with no safety net.

4- Fourth - the burden falling on community.
Organizations like ours, and many others, are stepping in to fill the gaps - but we should NOT be the system.
We are support…

5- Fifth - what dignity actually means
This petition makes one thing clear:
Seniors deserve access to:
• Affordable housing
• Nutritious food
• Necessary medications

Not as a privilege - as a BASIC right to age with dignity.

AND HERE’S WHAT THIS PETITION IS DEMANDING

We are calling on the Government of British Columbia to:

1. Strengthen supports for seniors facing rising costs

2. Improve food security programs so seniors can actually eat properly

3. Recognize and support community organizations doing this work

4. Ensure access to safe, affordable housing

5. Make medications affordable and accessible

This isn’t complicated.
These are basic, human needs.

SO WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO YOU?

Because this is not “their” problem.

This is:
• Your parents
• Your grandparents
• Your neighbors
• And one day… it could be YOU

The way we treat our seniors says everything about who we are as a community.

AND HERE’S THE TRUTH PEOPLE NEED TO HEAR:

Nothing will change unless people show up.

Not online.
Not by talking about it.
👉 By physically coming in and signing.

📍 TYDEL FOODS

We need names. We need voices. We need pressure.

Because governments don’t move because of good intentions -
they move when communities stand together and demand it.

THIS IS THAT MOMENT

You can walk past this…
Or you can be part of changing it.

Stand with our seniors.
Stand with your community.

Come in. Sign the petition.

Be counted.

Please pray for Paul (63)….

Due to collaborated efforts from ARH, ER social work team, DR, and Salvation Army, Paul is off to treatment this morning to go and fight for his life back.

Not every situation lines up this quick (36 hrs) , but when God opens a door and says “I want my child back” nothing stands in the way…

Paul no longer has to sleep under this dryer vent (behind sumas shelter) to keep warm because there are no shelter beds… anywhere…

I took this picture when we went to go look for his ID together yesterday, he was crying as he explained how he was laying under the vent getting rained on and wanted to give up on life, but today he has hope, and he’s on his way to healing and connect with his creator to find himself again…

Thank you to all who fought for Paul in this process..❤️❤️❤️

Published findings from a CoRE study examining outcomes following the closure of the Red Deer Overdose Prevention Site (OPS) in Alberta, Canada.

People who use OPS often live with severe addiction and significant social and economic vulnerability. For them, their families, and the public, it matters that publicly funded services measurably improve outcomes and support pathways to recovery.

🚑 This study found that closing the Red Deer OPS was not associated with increased mortality, emergency department visits, or EMS calls among actual site users.

✔️ However, it did show a significant increase in Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) uptake among actual site users (at the time of announcement of closure and after the site closed).

OAT is one of the most effective, evidence‑based interventions for reducing overdose risk.

These findings were possible because Alberta collects individual‑level health identifiers at supervised drug consumption sites. This allowed examination of how people interact with the health system before, during, and after major service changes.

These results challenge commonly held assumptions and raise an important question: If services are not improving outcomes for the people who rely on them most, how should health systems adapt to better support recovery and wellbeing?

I read a new study this morning that I think is worth sharing.

Researchers looked at what happened after the overdose prevention site in Red Deer, Alberta closed. They were able to track actual site users through the health system using linked health data.

What they found surprised a lot of people.

The closure did not lead to increases in overdose deaths, emergency department visits, or EMS calls among the people who had been using the site. At the same time, there was a significant increase in people starting opioid agonist treatment, which is one of the most effective treatments for opioid addiction.

Research like this doesn’t settle every debate, and the follow-up period was fairly short. But it does add important evidence to a conversation that is often driven more by assumptions than data.

After spending years working in addiction, homelessness, and recovery (and having personal connections to this issue) I’ve learned that there are rarely simple answers.

But one thing is clear: the goal should always be helping people move toward health, stability, and recovery.

That requires honest conversations and a willingness to look at the evidence, even when it challenges our assumptions.
