Easter is on the way, and soon our tables and homes will be filled with tasty chocolaty treats. While these treats are delicious for us, they are not at all good for our furry friends!
Chocolate Facts:
🍫 Toxic to pets in all forms, whether milk, dark, organic, etc.
🍫 Contains theobromine, a naturally occurring stimulant and caffeine
🍫 Symptoms of chocolate toxicity include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness, seizures and kidney or liver failure
🍫 High fat content in chocolate treats can also trigger gastrointestinal issues such as pancreatitis in susceptible pets
🍫 Treatment includes contacting your veterinarian immediately to induce vomiting. Hospitalization may be required
Keep pets safe this holiday weekend (and every day, because lets face it, chocolate is delicious all year long) by keeping treats in an airtight container, safely stored in a high cupboard and making sure that all family members know to only feed pet safe treats to Fluffy or Fido.
