With the indoor season underway, biosecurity is of the utmost importance! Protecting my personal herd, and valued client horses is, and will continue to be my number one priority.
With EHV-1 recently confirmed in Alberta, my regular protocols will be enhanced until we know more about the situation. I am fortunate to have a good relationship with local veterinarians and will be following thier advice.
I am continuing to book into Nov/Dec following these protocols:
- As always, my hands will be washed after each horse.
- Clothing and footwear will be fully changed out between facilities.
- Any tools/items will be sanitized using veterinary-grade products. This will include regularly cleaning and sanitizing my vehicle.
- The above being said, I am going to avoid visiting more than 1 facility in a day. In the case that I am travelling, ample time will be booked in between.
- My own horses are a closed-herd. They do not share close proximity with other equines, are utd on vaccines, and have not been hauled since October 1.
- Please be transparent if your horse, or horses at your facility are showing any signs of illness. Follow the advice and direction of your veterinarian.
If you have any questions about my procedures, please reach out! Looking forward to a winter of bodywork and healthy, happy horses! ❄️🐴💎
