That loss hit harder than many may have expected.

It’s strange how something that doesn’t directly involve us
can still leave us sitting there with that familiar heaviness.

Many of us felt it... the breath we didn’t realize we were holding,
the tension in our shoulders, or that quiet (or loud) ugh when this one slipped away.

That’s disappointment showing up in real time.

If you slow down and turn your attention inward, you will notice that our bodies react long before our minds make sense of it.

And that’s where awareness comes in.

That pause when we notice the impact

We’re tense, we’re holding our breath, we’re feeling it.

That’s where regulation begins.

Not by shutting it down,
but by noticing what’s happening underneath it.

Awareness softens the edges.

It can help us come back to balance,
back to calm,
back to ourselves.

This game is over, and more are on the way...so...

🌸 World Menopause Day 🌸

Day 1 of the National Menopause Conference did not disappoint, and yes, I came prepared with my purse fan and layered outfit (thankfully, because it was getting hot in there 🔥).

From learning about KNDy neurons (those fiery little brain cells behind the heat waves) and phantom smells, to exploring pelvic health, juiciness, trampoline confidence, and pain-free $ex, the science and conversations were incredible!

Hearing from inspiring voices like Sophie GrĂŠgoire Trudeau reminded me how vital it is to keep breaking the silence and empowering women through this transition.

These insights will directly enhance my work with clients, helping me provide deeper, more holistic support for the emotional, physical, and relational shifts that come with perimenopause and menopause. 💜

Menopause isn’t the end of vitality. It’s a chance to reclaim your rhythm, your confidence, and your sparkle. ✨

This Season Carries More Than We See

This time of year can be especially challenging - beneath crowded calendars and bright lights, many carry stress, overwhelm, family tension, and hidden burdens.

We just passed World Mental Health Day (October 10), a reminder that emotional well-being matters every single day.

Sometimes people hide their pain behind a smile, presenting “fine” to the world while suffering quietly inside. If someone in your life seems distant, unreachable, or in distress, don’t assume silence is safer.

In situations where you notice warning signs - or especially if there’s a known history of mental health struggle, threats, or attempts - you can request a wellness check from police. This is a way to ensure their safety when you can’t get to them yourself.

Yes, calling for help may lead to hurt, anger, or broken trust. That risk is real. But your concern, your courage to act - that often matters more than the fear of consequences. Because doing nothing may cost more than any fallout: it may allow someone’s suffering to escalate.

Many suffer in silence. You may not be able to “fix” their pain. But you can be here - waiting, ready, present - when they are prepared for your support.

Your choice to care may be the very thing that saves them.

🍂 When Cozy Isn’t Enough: The Emotional Side of Fall

Fall is a season we picture in soft tones: sweaters, spice, golden leaves, and cozy nights. But for many, autumn also brings heaviness. Shorter days can lower energy, routines feel overwhelming, and quiet grief often surfaces in unexpected ways.

This grief is not always tied to loss. It can be the ache of children growing older, the end of summer freedom, or the strain of family transitions. For some, it is sharper, a reminder of loved ones no longer here, or the weight of illness and change.

The truth is, fall mental health matters. Just as the season shifts, so do we. Naming and sharing these feelings, creating rituals of support, and finding small ways to connect can soften the load.

If this fall feels heavier than expected, know you are not alone. There is strength in letting go, and growth on the other side of grief.

Friday at Mayfest did not disappoint. 🤟

Mayfest is an annual celebration of Deaf culture and community in Toronto, filled with performances, vendors, and connections that bring people together through language and shared experience.

Reconnected with familiar faces, surrounded by the rhythm of shared language and culture.

From my first ASL class at 14 to working as an interpreter and now offering therapy in both ASL and English, it’s always been about access, connection, and community.

I love this community... its energy, connection, and deep sense of pride.
