In the last 3 weeks I’ve hiked nearly 50km and when I get home I’m absolutely exhausted. 😴

• It’s hard spending time on screens when you’ve been outside, in the fresh air all day. My routine for the last couple weeks has been getting exercise, get home, put on as many oils as I can before passing out.

• My muscles are sore, head is clear, and heart is full with so many adventures and time spent with friends. ♥️

• Yesterday we hiked ’s Barron Canyon and High Falls trail, and it was MUCH longer than anticipated. 😅

• We packed a lunch and I brought my Thieves hand sanitizer with me -even though we didn’t go anywhere between our house and where we had lunch, you can never be too careful!

• What’s great about Thieves is it’s not as harsh on your skin as other brands, and doesn’t smell nearly as bad as most.

How lucky am I to have friends that enjoy silly adventures too 🤍

Day Twenty One -Ditch and Switch

Digize versus chewable stomach tabs

• This oil can be very controversial due to the scent it projects. I didn’t like the smell of it when I first starting using it, however because I relate it to a feeling of comfort… it’s one of my most favourite smells now!

• Digize works to sooth stomach pain, abdomen cramps, bloating, heart burn, and anything else digestive related.

• It’s made up of a blend of other oils that are known to help with digestive issues like ginger!

• I use this oil for any type of stomach cramps, after diner fullness, motion sickness and when I start to feel under the weather.

• I typically just apply a few drops to my stomach, but for those who aren’t used to the smell of it can place it else where!

• Apply to the bottom of your feet (with it without socks), mix it with another oil that you like the smell of, or mix with a lotion!

Day Twenty One -Ditch and Switch

Peppermint versus muscle rub creams

• Todays adventure took place in and ended up being a 20km hike around Provoking Lake. 🥵

• I am absolutely exhausted and hardly making it through this post but after having a bath I doused myself in peppermint and V6 to help with my VERY sore muscles!!

• Another great oil is Panaway (always known as pain-away) but I know peppermint does wonders for me.

• Peppermint has both a heating and cooling effect and once applied, starts acting as an any inflammatory.

• I’m hoping I’m able to walk tomorrow and make it through the day 🤞🏻

Day Twenty-Ditch and Switch

Vytalyte Drops versus flavoured drink mix!

• These drops are one of my favourite new products I’ve got from Young Living because I know I never drink enough water and these help with that!

• These drops are great because the flavours are natural, zero calories, and zero sugar!

• Heading into tomorrow and I know if my water taste better I’ll be sure to stay hydrated!

• Staying away from sugar is becoming easy with all kinds of alternatives like this one!

• Some sugar is great, but we all know we already digest too much of it.

• I’ve been trying to always change what I drink when I’m having an alcoholic beverage, because sugar tends to give the worst hangovers.

• Adding a few drops of this to a liquor is just as good!!

Day Nineteen - Ditch and Switch

Tea Tree + V6 versus bacterial cleansers

• What’s interesting about essential oils is they’ve been around forever. People have used these same ingredients way back when they didn’t have any other remedies.

• For example, tea tree. It’s always been used as an antibacterial resource to prevent and attack bacteria.

• It’s well known for treating acne, lice, and anything to do with your feet and bacteria.

• I’ve known so many people who use it to treat acne that’s hard to reach and is usually located in sweaty areas like your back and chest!

• Tea tree is an oil, and because of that some tend to avoid it because they don’t want to add to their already oily skin. This is where quality comes in! The cheaper it is, the more that’s been added to it and therefore it’s not as pure and won’t treat the effected areas as well.

• This oil is well known for its strong and potent scent, which is where V6 comes in!

• V6 is known as a carrier oil meaning it’ll help move the oil around and dilute it as you use it on your skin. I’ve used tea tree many times before so I don’t dilute it, but for new comers there’s an option.

• When trying oils for the first time keep in mind a carrier oil to prevent reactions!

Day Eighteen - Ditch and Switch

Peppermint versus pills

• Peppermint can be used for soooo many things.

• Last week it was decided that we’d go on a 7km hike that turned into an almost 10km hike.

• This was just following a weird weather pattern and with that always comes headaches for me.

• About a kilometre in, my head was pounding and it was difficult for me to focus and keep my vision straight. My peppermint bottle was nearly empty so I put some snow in the bottle and put it in my pocket to melt.

• Eventually I had enough watered down peppermint to cure a headache.

• Young Living oils are so pure and effective, that even a watered down version was able to work for me.

• I support Young Living because I know their products go through many stages of testing, and only produce the best. They’ve got their own farms so they know what has been put into their soils, and how they’re crops preform.

• Peppermint has always been a favourite of mine because of the many properties it gives.

Day Seventeen -Ditch and switch

•Wolfberry eye cream versus other eye creams!!

• I’m not one to typically put in a lot of effort when it comes to a skin routine and I know when effort is put in, there’s better results… buutttt until then I’m doing my best hahah!

• What I’ve learned about wolf berries:

- rich in antioxidants
-rich in vitamin A
- rich in flavonoids (pigmentation)

What this does:

- higher levels of antioxidants
- protection against sun rays
- protection against normal aging

• Sun protection is huge now a days!! Wearing sunscreen underneath makeup, during winter months, or even if it’s cloudy out. Something to get use to for sure, but if it can be added into your daily night creams, why not?

Day Sixteen -Ditch and Switch

Thieves hand sanitizer versus drug store brands

• One thing I’ve learned about Thieves hand sanitizer is it doesn’t leave your hands dry over time!

• There’s so many brands that leave your hands with a weird texture or weird smell afterwords, but because Thieves has such a sweet/spicy scent it smells great!

• During the beginning of covid, there were so many brands of hand sanitizer that were recalled due to containing harmful chemicals.

• With thieves, it’s been approved by health Canada and is really to go!

• Honestly such a great switch up from your typically harmful hand sanitizer!

Natural diffusers versus scented décor

• Just thought of this tonight while wrapping some presents! I dehydrated some oranges and limes in the oven to use as decorations this year.

• It was super easy to dehydrate them just took many hours (like almost the whole day).

• I added a few drops of Christmas spirit to the oranges and placed it under the tree!

• Another natural diffuser many people use is actually your hair! I’ve seen so many people add a few drops of their favourite oil to the ends of their hair.

• Oils don’t just need to be diffused either, I’ve put them on pinecones, behind my ears, souls of my feet, stomach area, etc! Honestly you can put them anywhere.

Day Fourteen -Ditch and Switch

YL Lip Balm versus chap stick

• I’m sure chapstick is something many of us use especially during the winter months as it’s so dry!

• Young Living has a variety of lip balms and Vanillamint only comes out around Christmas!

• It’s one of the best and most hydrating lip balms I’ve every used.

• Vanillamint has some peppermint in it and creates a tingly feeling similar to what lip plumper feels like!

Day Thirteen -Ditch and Switch

Lemon + Baking Soda versus stove top cleaner

• This was a spur of the moment hack I used tonight based on cleaning videos I’ve seen on Tik Tok 😅

• I’ve seen so many people use baking soda for cleaning anything and it’s so easy! It creates a paste and scrubs the surface really well!

• Tonight I dropped some lemon on where the stain was and let it sit for a few moments before adding the baking soda.

• After a paste was formed, I sprayed with some thieves cleaner just cause, and started scrubbing.

• For the most part it worked like a charm, and needed a little extra effort on the tough parts!

• I used a “scrubby” is what we call it, but the rough dishcloths people use (not sure if there’s an actual name)!

• It left our stove top shinning and I’ll definitely be using this again! I’ve also seen it done with half a lemon!
