Have you heard of the winter solstice wish burning ritual?
I keep seeing posts about the winter solstice wish burning ritual and my curiosity got the better of me. I’m intrigued and I say what the heck, I’m going to give it a go!
Here’s what you are supposed to do:
First you write down 13 wishes on separate small pieces of paper. Each one represents each month of the coming year, plus one extra. The key is not to overthink it.
The wishes can be big like a career change or being financially secure or they can be small like finally learning crochet or less road rage.
The key is to write them in present tense, as though they’re already happening. So instead of “I want to try to do a 60 second plank”, you say “I can do a 60 second plank like a total bad@&&”(not one of mine lol).
Does it seem a little kooky? Ya, okay maybe, but then really , what do you have to lose?
So after the wishes are written down fold each wee paper so you can’t see what’s written on them, toss them in a container and stir/shake them up.
Then, starting today on December 21, the winter solstice, you pull one wish out each night WITHOUT reading it and you burn it. Light a candle, then hold the paper over the flame and watch it burn.
Alternatively you can also toss it into a fireplace or simply rip it up into tiny pieces. The idea is you’re handing it off to whatever higher power you believe in. And the point being to release control and trust that this wish will unfold without you clinging to it like your life depends on it.
Finally, on New Year’s Day, you’ll be left with one final wish-that one is yours to handle yourself. It is the one you’re not delegating to the whatever you believe in, the wish left on that little piece of paper you’re committing to work toward.
I’m excited to try this, any one want to join me? Comment or shoot me a message and I’ll send you my full plan. Maybe in a year’s time we can reflect together on any changes 😊
Happy winter solstice ❄️🌞🩵
