I l o v e that blue lace up t-shirt. I bought it with the intentions of it being a "before" shirt. And if I'm being really honest I already had a full second closet designated to all my "skinny" clothes. A collection that started in high school. Even though buying that piece of clothing that was too tight seemed to motivated me in the moment, that quickly faded and I was left feeling ashamed. Like a failure.

Then the cycle would repeat.

It wasn't until earlier this year I decided that I was only going to start buy clothes that fit properly (i know what a shocking concept), even if that meant they were in a larger size than I wanted them to be.

Unclenching my hands from around the belief system that a bigger me was a lesser version of me was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do.

I had to continuously remind myself that no one could see the size on the tag. The only thing they could see was that the clothes were fitting me well and how I carried myself. End of discussion. I would not let that pesky voice inside my head another word. I repeated these facts until they became my new beliefs.

Then something magical happened: I started to feel confident. I started liking the way I looked.

And it just cascaded from there. The more I liked the way I looked, the more I wanted to do for myself. I wanted to eat better and move more. Not out of hate but out of love. And it's been one of the most effortless things I've ever done.

I haven't tracked any calories or weighed any food and I no longer punish myself with exercise. I am grateful everyday for my body. Ive gone from a size 12 to a size 6. There was no magic pill or quick fix. The only magic used here was what I had inside me all along. ✨✨

This meal was bomb.com 💣

Wanna know my secret? I cook everything in its own fat and juices.

Chicken thighs are a dark meat and have a higher fat content than chicken breasts, making them more tasty. Once the quinoa was cooked, I added the juice runoff from the thighs to it. Which equaled perfectly seasoned quinoa 👌

I know it can be scary intentionally eating more fat because it is higher in calories. But fat does not make you fat.

Fat is CRITICAL for the body. Every cell in you is made up of fat. It also helps balance your blood sugar, aids in calcium absorption aka stronger bones, stimulates production of hormones, aids in reducing inflammation, keeps you satiated and much more.

At this point in your life, you thought your Pinterest board of wedding dreams would be coming true. Your happily ever after would be followed by little footsteps and homemade cookies at family gatherings.

Hello 👋 to your inner child, she’s confused as to why she didn’t grow up into Cinderella. There was so much potential and yet no magic.

Instead you turn 25 and the internet is raging with everyone’s highlight reel. Clearly, theirs has a better filter. Must be magic.

I know I needed to hear this and maybe you do to:

Forget your happily ever after.
That’s when the movie ends; when the credits roll into the black.

Nobody has a damn thing figured out. Everyone has blah days. Your idea of perfect will different in a year so don’t place too much emphasis on it. There will always be another Pinterest board to build.

You can’t give your life more time, so give the time you have left more life. 🌿

In a world full of fish, be a fu***ng shark. 🦈

I have always played it safe. I have built a life of serving others and Im frugal with my time and my money. If I was guaranteed to live to 100, I think these qualities would serve me very well. But that might not happen.

I'm tired of holding my breath on the assumption of what tomorrow might be like. Constantly preparing myself to be perfect.

But I'm not perfect.

No one is going to be perfect.

We're all part of this big puzzle but we don't all directly fit together. Your perfection to one person is seen as a bother to the next.

So this is your reminder to breathe. Inhale. P a u s e. Exhale. Breathe your truth. Use your time in this life to do things that serve you. To play it less safe. To get messy. To catch the next wave and ride.

One of my favourite pairings: kale and butternut squash. 🍠🥬 The reason for this is the sweetness of butternut squash balances the bitter kale.

Trying to add more greens into your diet can be difficult because they may taste more bitter. Since most of our diets are hyperpalatable, meaning high sugar paired with high fat and salt, anything less than that is gonna taste f$%cking gross. 😷

BUT FUN FACT: your taste buds die off and change every few weeks. Meaning there’s an opportunity to increase your tolerance for bitter foods.

So next time you’re experimenting with green veggies try adding things like bacon, cranberries, butternut squash, grapes, strawberries, cheese, sea salt, butter, and so on, to balance the flavours. In a couple weeks add a little less of these additional ingredients, until you get to a point where your taste buds can happily chomp on a brussel sprout without freaking out! 💃🥗

You know that feeling when life just seems to be passing you by? When you’ve spent all day serving others and finally have time to sit down, but you’re too tired to serve yourself now. You put yourself on the back burner because that’s what you’ve been taught. And being selfish is a bad word.

But when you drink from a selfish cup, you fill yourself up. When your cup is full, you can pour from it.

Allow yourself the time to feel and not fix. Let the heaviest on your chest be a sign to sit, close your eyes and breath. Think about things that fill your cup up.

•Get a mani/pedi
•Go for a drive
•Binge watch Netflix
•Get a massage
•Buy a cupcake

Do something that serves you. It may feel like a waste at first. As if that time and money could have been spent on more “productive” things. But you are not a waste. You are deserving. It’s your turn to be in the front. ✨🌿

You're over complicating things.

Maybe it's because we need things to be harder so when we fail its less of our fault?

Let your ingredient speak for themselves. Make sure there's a balance of carbs, fats and protein. Add garlic to everything. Keep salt and pepper on stand by at all times. Even for your salads 🥗

Fancy restaurants will charge you an arm and a leg for a simple meal that they've rendered in animal fats and butter. Trust me you can easily accomplish this at home👌👌

One of the best things I stumbled across was learning that part of self love is self responsibility •••

I stopped putting energy into trying to change myself and starting putting my energy into learning about who I am.

•How did I get into this headspace?
•Why do I feel this way in certain situations?
•What in my past has lead me to these belief systems?

It was my responsibility to learn where my self worth stemmed from and what external factors were affecting that. Were they positive? How do I cultivate more? Were they negative? Can they be removed? Or do I have to set more boundaries and change how I react to them?

Self love is a practice.

And it is your responsibility to put the time and effort into practicing that. It is going to be difficult. It will be messy. But I guarantee 1000x over, it will be worth it.

Everyday for the rest of your life you will be in a relationship with yourself. And that relationship should be honored. Just as one would take vows with another to provide them in sickness and in health, we must promise to take care of ourselves to the best of our abilities.

So ring the wedding bells 🎊 you're getting hitched bitch ✌️

I have a life changing hack for you:

You can freeze avocados! ❄️🥑 Yup, they stay basically the same as when they were fresh! I know that those alligator pears can be expensive and turn brown after one second past midnight. So this hack is guaranteed to save you some money and a little peace of mind.

All you have to do is:
•Cut them up.
•Lay the pieces flat on a parchment paper and store in freezer until frozen.
•Transfer to a Tupperware and keep in the freezer until needed.

Did you know that avocados are also higher in potassium than bananas? Potassium is a mineral that most people don’t get enough of due to the high sodium content in processed foods. This can create a sodium/potassium imbalance leading to high blood pressure, headaches and water retention.

So after a night out at the movies or Thanksgiving dinner, spend the next day mindfully drinking enough water and consuming higher potassium foods. Some examples include as avocados (duh 😅), sweet potatoes, spinach, watermelon, black beans, butternut squash (my favorite), and beets!
