Work in progress of a little surprise I’m working on

I’m sure AI could have whipped something out in seconds but decided to illustrate the running stitch and classic sashiko pattern the old fashioned way ✍️

Stay tuned

Fit of the day: You are gonna want to watch ‘till the end because I snuck in a before and after in this video :)

Gap sweater with now shorten sleeves, paired with vintage men’s jeans that I have mended, using sashiko stitching, and finished with a large piece of batik fabric I bought from many moons ago which I wear as a scarf.

Shop update: I can take walk-ins for hemming pants and skirts since I now have help with these and we can get it done within 2 weeks! Here’s an example of a hemmed pair of jeans using the original cuff.

Shop open today until 4pm

Fit of the Day: Reworked embroidered T-Shirt

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. I decided to go ahead and secure the embroidered Love letters to my T-shirt and then cut out all the negative space around them. I absolutely LOVE how this turned out!

Today I’m pairing the Modern Mending embroidered Love appliqué T-shirt with my favorite black wool trousers. Look is finished with the CH upcycled quilt coat No.1 worn upside down 🙃

If you’re wanting to get into hand embroidery, go to my Etsy shop and download the template for the Love embroidery appliqué. It comes with a step-by-step tutorial where you will learn the backstitch and the chain stitch.

Fit of the day: Your input please!

What do you think of this Upcycled T-shirt made with the LOVE floral embroidery I did on a light grey piece of jersey which I then added onto a dark grey t-shirt. I still love the embroidery design but I not sure about the pale rectangle across my chest. Should I cut out the letters and only applique the individual shapes?

Let me know your thoughts

Fit: Upcycled T-shirts using my own design (pattern and tutorial available on Etsy), wide leg jeans and black wool blazer

Fit of the Day: Black & Beige

This classic look is one of my favorites this season. I’ve been seeing this combination of a Black Top with oversized, beige pants and a touch of white for a little while now and decided to replicate this look with sustainability in mind by shopping in the men’s section of my local thrift store.

If you want to replicate this look, I recommend looking for a loose fitting pair of cotton twill men’s pants, ideally with pleats at the front. You can either cinch your waist with a belt or have them taken in by your local Tailor (😉). I did shorten the hem and rolled the cuff to give the pants a cropped look. Then it’s just a matter of styling a crisp white shirt under a loose fitting black sweater. Make sure to have those pops of white peeking out from the collar, the cuffs and the hem for that casual preppy look.

Fit of the Day: Mustard & Denim

I LOVE yellow but I sometimes find it challenging to wear. Mustard feels like a wonderful muted version and looks great combined with Denim. So, here’s a second hand mustard sleeveless 3/4 cardigan, cinched with a wide brown leather belt to match the suede boots. CH Upcycled jeans using the multi patch method. Also sporting a black long sleeve shell top, my winter essential as you know if you’ve been following me for a while, is a must to save on heating, which is not only good for my wallet, it’s great for the Earth as well, by preserving our natural resources. After all, it is darling.

Studio update & Fit of the Day

Studio update: for those who put your name on the waitlist down around mid February, please check your inbox and messenger I am ready to schedule an appointment to have a look at your pieces. Yay!

Fifth of the day: Canadian tuxedo 2.0 CH up cycled denim skirt mended using a contrast denim patch on the reverse side to repair a hole at the knee. Paired with a men’s denim button-down shirt, which I love to wear with a long necklace for a more feminine look.

Did you watch my reel to the end and are wondering what I cut out? Come back tomorrow and I will post the cut footage since Instagram wasn’t too happy with a three minute video ;)

Before and after: The Cropped Blouse

When I mentioned in my last reel that I was inspired to try the cropped blouse by some recent re/designs I did for clients, this one probably tops the list. My client loved the idea of the top and how beautiful the fabric was, but the proportions were not flattering. The body was too long. The sleeves were too wide. I felt it needed a little cropping in order to emphasize how beautiful and romantic this piece could be.

After a few modifications at the armhole and hem, she now has a beautiful cropped blouse that can also be worn as a bolero. BONUS: there was enough leftover fabric to turn into a beautiful scarf she can wear as a bow with the top, with a different button-down shirt or even as a head scarf. So many options! Thank you, Kate McGuire of for the scarf conversion inspiration. You are a true leader in sustainable Re/design.
