💜 Massage Therapy was the top pick… and honestly, we get it.

Life gets busy, stress builds up, and our bodies hold onto more than we realize.Tight shoulders, headaches, sore backs, jaw tension, restless sleep… it all adds up.

✨ A little self care tip for today
Take 60 seconds, roll your shoulders back, unclench your jaw, and take one slow deep breath in… and a longer breath out.
As you breathe, gently stretch the areas that feel the most achy or tight; your neck, shoulders, hips, or low back. Hold that stretch softly (no forcing), and let your breath do the work.

Even small resets like this can calm your nervous system and help your body soften. And if your body is craving a deeper reset, we’re always here to support you.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT 🔮
Jenny Duncan, Psychic Medium & Intuitive Reader

Jenny’s name is actually just Jenny (not Jennifer!) but many know her as Jen too.

Jenny grew up in Thompson, Manitoba, lived in Brandon starting in 2010, later moved to Winnipeg in 2017, and is now recently located in southwestern Manitoba. She describes herself as a bit of a gypsy at heart, following where she feels called and she truly believes her path has been guided by purpose, healing, and spirit.

Jenny has always been naturally intuitive and drawn to helping others. From a young age, she was highly sensitive to spirit and often had a strong inner knowing about her life path. After the passing of her brother in 2006, her connection to the spirit world deepened significantly, and her experiences and awareness expanded.

In 2017, Jenny felt a strong calling to intentionally pursue psychic mediumship as a way to help others through healing, comfort, and connection. She was inspired by well-known mediums such as John Edward, Sylvia Browne, and the Long Island Medium, and later began taking formal training and classes to develop the gifts she had carried for years.

One of Jenny’s favourite parts of her work is helping people find peace, clarity, and healing through messages from spirit. She especially loves those “how did you know that?” moments because as she says, that’s spirit coming through, not her.

Jenny also loves coming to The Massage Temple and says the moment she walks through the doors, the aroma and energy gives her an immediate sense of calm and feeling at home.

Fun fact:
Jenny’s work takes her across Western Canada through both online sessions and in-person events, including major psychic fairs and her spring and fall tours with Galaxy Psychic Fairs. She also works in healthcare, and family is everything to her. She’s a mom of three and a grandma of two!

Jenny’s advice for clients:
Come with an open heart, not a specific expectation. Spirit brings forward what you need, not always what you’re hoping to hear and the message lands deepest when you allow it to unfold naturally. Our loved ones are always around, and spirit is truly amazing.

Just for fun:
Tea or coffee? Definitely tea; non-caffeinated is best. Jenny says tea comforts her soul and grounds her… a true “hug in a mug.”
Morning person or night owl? Somewhere in between she prefers afternoons for readings after she’s had time to get grounded.
Guilty pleasure snack? Chips… always chips.

💜 We’re so grateful to have Jenny as part of The Massage Temple community.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT🌙
Ashley Trachuk Co-Owner & RMT | Massage Therapy

Ashley was raised on a farm in Fisher Branch, Manitoba (about 1.5 hours north of Winnipeg), and those small town roots shaped who she is today.

After high school( where all her friends told her she was great at giving the best massages), Ashley moved to Banff, Alberta. Seeing the Fairmont Hotel for the first time and the Willow Stream Spa inside it sparked her interest in the wellness world. After moving to Victoria, BC in 2009, she enrolled in the Spa Practitioner program then wanting to take things a step further, Ashley began the Registered Massage Therapy program, drawn to the idea of rehabilitation and helping clients heal using only her hands.

What Ashley loves most about her work is getting to know her clients and building trust in the treatment room both physically and emotionally. Seeing clients come back and noticing real improvements in how they feel is one of the most rewarding parts of her job.

Outside of the clinic, Ashley enjoys yoga & spin class (even though she hated it for the first six months before realizing how good it made her feel).

Ashley believes the body has a natural ability to heal itself. She encourages clients to support that process in whatever way works best for them whether that’s massage, movement, rest, nutrition, or simply slowing down.

Coffee and green tea are usually both within reach, she’s an early morning person, and when it comes to snacks, she’s all about balance; salty, sweet, or crunchy depending on the day.

💜 We’re grateful to have Ashley as part of the heart of The Massage Temple.

Should a massage hurt?

Short answer: massage should never feel unbearable or unsafe but it also doesn’t always feel completely pain free.

During massage, especially when working on tight or sensitive areas, you may feel strong pressure, tenderness, or a “good hurt.” This often happens when a therapist is working with tight muscles, trigger points, or areas that have been holding tension for a long time.

What’s important is how it feels to you.

✅️What’s okay:

Pressure that feels intense but manageable

Tenderness that eases as the muscle relaxes

Sensations you can breathe through

Feeling sore but relieved afterward

❌ What’s not okay:

Sharp, stabbing, or burning pain

Holding your breath or tensing up

Pain that makes you feel anxious or unsafe

Feeling like you need to “power through”

Massage works best when your nervous system feels safe enough to relax. If pressure is too much, your body may guard instead of letting go which actually makes it harder for the muscle to release.

💬 Communication is key.
Your therapist relies on your feedback. Letting them know if pressure is too much (or too little) helps tailor the session to your body.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT 💫
Braden Goymer, RMT | Massage Therapy

Braden was born in Winnipeg and raised right here in Brandon, and we’re grateful to have him caring for clients in his home community.

His journey into massage therapy began when a friend who is an RMT suggested the profession to him and it turned out to be a great fit. Braden will be celebrating one year in practice this February, 2026.

What Braden enjoys most about his work is the feeling of making a positive change in someone’s pain or discomfort. Helping people feel better in their bodies is what motivates him every day.

Outside of the clinic, Braden enjoys playing the piano, and he’s definitely a night owl.

Quiet, thoughtful, and dedicated to his work, Braden brings a calm and caring presence into every session.

We’re so grateful to have him as part of the TMT team.

What is a “knot” in a muscle?

That “knot” you feel in your neck, shoulders, or back is often what massage therapists call a trigger point. A small area of muscle that’s tight, tense, and not relaxing the way it should.
It’s not a literal knot in the muscle. It’s more like muscle fibers that are stuck in a contracted, guarded state. These spots can feel hard, sore, or achy and sometimes they even refer pain somewhere else (like a shoulder knot causing a headache).

Knots often form from stress, poor posture, repetitive movements, overuse, or old injuries. When a muscle stays tight for too long, circulation is reduced and the tissue becomes more sensitive and irritated.

Massage helps release knots by bringing fresh blood and oxygen into tight areas, gently separating stuck muscle fibers, and relaxing the nervous system so the muscle can finally let go. It also helps soften the connective tissue (fascia) around the muscle and break the cycle of pain and tension, allowing the tissue to move and feel better again.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT 🌸
Kirstie Kane Co-Owner & RMT | Massage Therapy

Kirstie was born in Sparwood, BC and raised all across Saskatchewan, spending much of her time in Regina before eventually finding her way here.

Her path into massage therapy started in a very real, very relatable way. She was finishing her second year of university and hating every minute of it. After a conversation with her mom (who told her she thought she’d be a massage therapist), Kirstie took the leap… and started massage school two weeks later. She’s been practicing ever since, beginning her career in 2006.

At the heart of Kirstie’s work is a simple but powerful value: she loves to feel helpful. She describes her work as an entirely positive feedback loop. What she gives to her clients, she receives back tenfold.

At The Massage Temple, Kirstie says she truly loves the team, especially her business partner. Partnering with Ashley to expand TMT was a huge step for her (especially since she’s usually not a fan of change), but she says Ashley has made the entire experience uplifting, fun, and deeply rewarding. She also loves that the cooperative effort of everyone in the building keeps the client’s wellbeing at the center, rather than just the business side of things.

Outside of the clinic Kirstie loves the outdoors; camping, hiking, trail running, paddling, swimming, gardening... and yes, her dog Bailey is truly her best friend.

Kirstie’s client philosophy:
She believes in showing up fully for her clients and creating a space where people feel cared for, supported, and better when they leave than when they arrived.

☕ Just for fun:

Coffee or tea? Coffee as black as black can be

Morning person or night owl? Night owl (mornings are when she’s finally ready to go to bed)

Guilty pleasure? Potato chips, just can’t say no!

💜 We’re so grateful to have Kirstie as a co-owner, therapist, and heart of The Massage Temple.
