Working on aaaall the things today.
Here's a shared reminder for us all to slow down, take breaks, EAT, stay hydrated, and when you can, move your body.

All of these and more are so deeply alive for me.

If you teach, hold space, or educate in any sense or interpretation of those, what are your favourite parts?

If you are a student or on a learning journey, what drives you to continue?

When we reflect on our own journeys and our 'why' we can often sink deeper into the experience. We can hold and give shape to our deepest desires and then take meaningful steps towards them.

Legs Up the Wall - one of my fav poses.

Why bother?

🩸Helps with blood exchange - heart doesn't have to work as hard
🌀Passive lymph drainage - helps with swelling in lower body
⚙️Can shift the pelvis into a neutral position - reducing back ache
💤Improved sleep quality - proper rest can help with alllllll the things
🪶Reduces movement - invites calm and stillness

🍃All of the above can help manage and slow anxiety, worry, racing thoughts, and that general sense of 'rushing'.

Hold for 1-5 minutes, 1-3 times a day.

And remember, consistency builds results.

Let me know if you give it a try.

With love,
B 🍂

📚How-to:
Sit with your hip beside the wall, lay on your side, and lift your legs so that your bum is flush with the wall. Lay on your back, and let gravity get to work.
If you want, you can always place a pillow or blanket under the low back to support the body.
Take intentional inhales and elongated exhales for a few rounds to really let the body melt down and relax into the pose.

Recently I've been finding myself disappointed. With people I know, situations I'm in, and with outcomes out of my control.

It arrives quietly - when something I hoped for slips away, when effort doesn’t meet outcome, when reality feels smaller than my expectation.

In those moments, the mind searches for meaning.
Did I do something wrong?
Am I not enough?
Was this never meant for me?

But disappointment isn’t proof of failure, it’s an invitation.
An opening to pause, breathe, and notice what hurts.
To meet ourselves with compassion instead of judgment.

The body feels it, too. The tightening, the bracing, the holding on.
And beneath that, a quiet wisdom asking us to release.

When we soften and allow rather than resist, disappointment can transform from something that breaks us, into something that teaches us how to begin again.

Here's hoping we can lean into learning and find new paths forward.

Why somatics for prenatal care?

Aside from all of the pieces listed above?

We deserve to feel supported and grounded through the process of pregnancy, birth, and all that comes after.

We deserve to feel confident and comfortable in our choices surrounding our body and experiences.

We deserve to feel expansive and capable.

Join me in the exploration of self-expansion and discovery of new tools for a grounded birth experience.

Fall air means dry skin.

Here's how I made this rosehip skin soothing oil👇🏻

🏵️Start with a base of calendula infused jojoba oil, vitamin e oil, castor oil, and plantain infused oil, ~1oz of each
🌹Add in dried rose hips and jojoba oil OR pre-infused rose hip oil ~.5oz of oil and ~4tbsp of dried rose hips
🐝Slowly add in beeswax and cocoa butter ~1 tsp of each
🔥Warm in a double boiler (or a bowl over hot water - enough secondary heat to make the wax and butter melt but not enough to burn or boil)
🥄Stir until completely melted through
🫗Pour through a cheesecloth lined sieve into the containers of choice (be sure not to get water drops into the mixture - it will reduce shelf life and cause the product to go rancid! Wipe the bottom of the pot or bowl first)
👀Watch the consistency as the product cools, add more oil or wax/butter to find the texture of your choice!
🤌🏻Voila! You've just made your own deeply hydrating face oil for the dry months.
🗓️Shelf life of approx 6 months

Thank you to Ts'il Kaz Koh for having me at your wellness events this year and sharing your time, knowledge, and medicine with me - always a pleasure.

Much love,
