When your little one's emotions explode—that hitting, throwing, or screaming—it’s not a failure of character; it's a lack of skill. They have big feelings and no toolbox yet.
Instead of just punishing the outburst, pause and become their emotion coach.
Acknowledge: "I see you are really mad the tower fell."
Teach the Boundary: "But our hands are not for hitting or throwing."
Give the Tool: "Let’s take three slow breaths, or you can squeeze this pillow."
You are laying the foundation for their lifetime of self-control. It’s hard work, but the calm, resilient adult you raise will be worth every patient moment.
🔥 Your hands are their guide. Teach them how to handle the hard.
