CaRMS 2024 on my mind.
Yesterday, the annual residency intake results in Canada were released.
As a National advocate for IMGs and an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who was fortunate to complete my Post graduate training in Canada despite the limited availability of spots, the match day is personal for me. It is a culmination of years of extreme hard work and unprecedented sacrifices made by several hundreds IMGs towards integration into the Canadian Healthcare System.
Again, an unprecedented number of mentees matched nationwide, medical and surgical specialties alike. What joy!. Their success is a testament to how much we can achieve together.
Alone, you go far but together, we can go much further.
Together, myself and like minded colleagues, are creating this new ripple effect of positive change in the Canadian IMG narrative.
To my practicing colleagues, what are you doing to support that upcoming, financially struggling, mentally broken IMG around you? How are you affecting and changing policies?
Alas, many remain unmatched. I feel and see you. We will continue to support them in their quest as they inhale, breathe and prepare to try again.
