Where Stigma Ends and Recovery Starts

Let's take this next step to change the conversation

"What is reflection & the self?"

The first step in recovery is deciding you need to make a change.

Reflective practice is one of the core concepts in addiction. Reflective practice demands that you learn from experience it requires you to be self-critical. It expects you to analyse what you THINK, FEEL and DO.

Let's educate each other! The more information we gain the safer we can be and the less misinformation will spread! Let's end the stigma, save lives! 💪

I have a strange relationship with the notion of identity. I always thought of identity as being my core values, but now I am not really sure I fully agree with this idea. If identity describes who we are, the triggers I have experienced made me realize my values and how I see myself changed. And though I agree that trauma or hardships shape who we are, they should not define us.

Lots of love, Han 💕

🔆Goood morning folks! 🔆

I don't know about you guys but we are personally feeling burnt OUT🙃
While researching self care for myself I couldn't help but think its a word that's thrown around a lot but how do we really incorporate self care in our daily life? The word itself sounds like a mystified vague term...
Self-care is about getting down to the specifics. So here's some ways it can actually help!

▪️Boundaries: Evaluate what activities or ppl give you energy and what/ who drains you.

▪️Practicing saying NO‼️:
(That's a tough one ) but one of the MOST important.

▪️Identify your "ground level". Is it usually feeling calm? Anxious? Maybe start noting what your regular is. And if it is not where you want to be, ask yourself what can help to get to your ground level goal. Is that giving up something? Is it seeking help from a medical professional? ❣

▪️Once you identify your grounding level. When you are feeling deregulated, what can you do to put yourself back in a space you feel comfortable in?
Is it carrying a picture around that makes you feel happy? Is it carrying a stone to touch to bring you back to the present moment?

▪️REGULATE SLEEP ROUTINE!!!! 🌙🪐
I cannot emphasize this enough. In any rehab/ treatement center the first step into establishing a stable routine is regulating sleep. Good Sleep is a reset for everything! Mental/emotional and physical.

✔Self-care is shoved down our throats in social work. I thought I'd share this link they recommended for us to help establish a self- care routine in depth:

Every Sunday we want it to be a self reflection day, a 'check in' day with yourself 💕

How are YOU doing?

September is a month of starting over....back to work, back to school...its nearly the end of the month and let's take the time to check in. How have YOU been? How's YOUR mental health? If you are feeling overwhelmed is there something you can take out ? Or is there a way you can fit in some self care time for yourself?

Why do we think having a crazy busy schedule is good? Is it because we're trying to prove something to ourselves or others? Is it to escape our thoughts? What would happen if you were bored? Is it scary to be alone with your thoughts?

I do that, I purposely try to be constantly busy so I am not alone with my thoughts. Sounds like someone with addiction would do too.
I am learning to say no and choosing what or who gives me the proper energy with the time I have for myself.

So let's check in every Sunday, How are you really doing? And what do you think you need to feel balanced.

Much love 💕
