Black history includes how we’ve learned to survive, cope, and heal.
Mental health has always been part of our story — even when it didn’t have clinical language.
Caring for our minds is not new. It’s continuation. 🖤

Meet Jess 👋

• I’m a Provisional Psychologist
• I work relationally and intuitively
• I’m a big dog lover 🐾
• I love trying new cuisines (the spicier, the better 🌶️)
• I secretly want to be David Attenborough
• I deeply value learning from others

A little more about me:
I take a relational, intuitive approach to therapy and believe healing happens through connection. I’m naturally curious about people and their stories, and I’m always learning—from clients, colleagues, and the world around me.

I show up with warmth, openness, and a genuine interest in understanding what makes us human.

Feeling really grateful to be winners of Community Votes Calgary for best therapy clinic in Calgary.

We don’t do this work for accolades, but we are truly grateful to be recognized through Community Votes Calgary. What means the most to us is what this recognition reflects—that the work Healing Journey Collective is doing is being seen, felt, and valued within the community we serve.

This work is rooted in trust, care, and showing up—often in quiet and meaningful ways. To have that acknowledged is incredibly humbling. Thank you to our community and our clients for your continued trust and support, and to those who work alongside Healing Journey Collective in bringing this work to life. We are deeply grateful 🤍

Most of the conflicts couples get into are a result of perpetual problems. There isn’t a solution, instead, it’s learning how to talk through them in a healthy and meaningful way.

As a Couples Therapist trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, I see this all the time. Strong emotional reactions in relationships usually show up when something important feels at risk such as closeness, reassurance, safety, or feeling chosen.

That reaction isn’t a flaw. It’s your nervous system trying to protect the bond.

The problem isn’t having emotions. The problem is when couples don’t know how to slow them down and understand what they’re pointing to.

In EFT, we focus less on fixing emotions and more on helping partners respond to each other in ways that create safety, trust, and connection.

Because secure relationships aren’t built by suppressing feelings, they’re built by learning how to turn toward each other when emotions show up.

Being a psychologist is easy—you just talk all day.”

Comments like this often miss what the work actually holds.

Listening deeply. Holding trauma. Staying regulated while someone else is unraveling. Making clinical decisions in real time. Carrying stories that don’t get left at the door.

It’s meaningful work—and it’s also demanding, emotionally and cognitively.

Many professions are hard in different ways. Psychology just happens to be hard quietly.

Most couples enter marriage with a lot of love and very little preparation for what actually sustains a relationship long term.
Not because they’re doing it wrong, but because these conversations rarely happen.

Marriage isn’t about avoiding conflict.
It’s about learning how to stay connected when things feel hard.

If any of this resonates, you’re not failing.
You’re human.

💭 Which one stood out to you?
