trying new foods does not need to be an epic undertaking…

curious about the flavour profile of that veggie or protein you’ve never tried before? simply google it or better yet, ask the produce or grocery person working that department at your local store… oh heavens! actually connect and have a conversation out in public 😳😉

i tried red kuri squash this week, also known as baby red hubbard and orange hokkaido. i roasted it with some olive oil, thyme, sage, marjoram and parsley. the skin with this squash is edible, but I wasn’t a fan. the flesh was earthy and mildly sweet.

i had lots left over even from choosing a small squash, so made soup today. simmered the leftovers in some bone broth and added ginger, cardamom and a little cumin for warmth flavours, after blending, added some full cream coconut milk and a splash of maple syrup.

i read that trying new foods can create new neutral pathways… how cool is that! 🧠

what new food will you try this week?

Think menopause is just hot flashes? Think again.

Menopause affects every cell in your body because estrogen is everywhere. It’s not just about reproduction—it impacts your brain, metabolism, heart, bones, and immune system.

🧠 Brain: Estrogen supports memory, mood, and cognition. When it declines, many women experience brain fog, forgetfulness, and increased anxiety or depression.

💪 Muscles & Metabolism: Lower estrogen contributes to increased belly fat, muscle loss, and insulin resistance, making weight management harder.

❤️ Heart: Estrogen helps keep blood vessels flexible and supports cholesterol levels. Its decline raises the risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease—the #1 killer of women.

🦴 Bones: Estrogen slows bone loss. Without it, 1 in 2 women will experience an osteoporotic fracture in their lifetime.

🌱 Gut & Immune System: Estrogen influences gut microbiome diversity and immune function. Its decline can lead to inflammation, digestive issues, and autoimmune flares.

Menopause is a whole-body transition, not just a phase to “get through.” The good news? You have options.

🔥 Nutrition, strength training, lifestyle changes, and hormone therapy (when appropriate) can help you take back control. It’s time to stop suffering in silence and start thriving.
