Who's That Sitting in our Family Tree?

Who's That Sitting in our Family Tree? A Facebook gathering for the descendants of Sadie Acheson Web(b)er in photo and stories.

The Acheson and Web(b)er families of Canada, as descendants of Joseph Acheson 1815-1901. The Acheson family in Canada has roots back to the Ulster area of Northern Ireland. Starting with the oldest known patriarch, Weir Acheson of County Tyrone, Ireland, we follow the line of Joseph Acheson, who brings his family to Perth county in Upper Canada, now Ontario. His son, Alexander, marries Sarah Braden Miller and they head out to the unsettled west, to Manitoba to raise their family. The saga continues with life in the prairies of southern Manitoba in the Mennonite settlement of Rosenfeld. There, their first daughter, Sadie meets a handsome young man of Alsace, France origin, Joseph "Rusey" Weber, lacross player and grain trader. Our family line finally treks one more journey, to Calgary Alberta, where the Webber clan takes roots and prospers.

Canada's Confederation is 157 years old as of this July 1st. Help celebrate by remembering 150 people who have contributed to this great country since 1867. We have poets and painters, writers and athletes, leaders, musicians, explorers and just hard workers. There are even two interlopers in there that sneaked in. Identify ten and you know your Canadians. Identify twenty and you ARE Canadian! Identify 30+ and you go party crazy on July 1st! GO CANADA!
Share with your Canadian friends.
A Canadian apology: "Sorry, but I first posted this seven years ago."

Uncle Joe Webber's enlistment photo from his military folder. No, I swear; this is not a arrest mug shot. Taken in late 1942 by military photographer. "AG" on his uniform is likely Air Gunner. The other photo in uniform was a family portrait. See Joe's personal profile at:

The Acheson Building in Morden, Manitoba. Constructed in 1896 by J. T. Acheson. J.T. is not on our family tree of the Achesons in Rosenfeld. But I believe to be a distant cousin from County Tyrone. To be investigated some day.

A calendar illustration for the "E. J. Weber General Hardware" store in Rosenfeld, Manitoba. Undated. This is the store that was set up by my g-grandmother, Sarah [Miller] Acheson, for her daughter Sadie and son-in-law Emil Joseph Weber, my grandfather. . Granddad (known as "Rusey") ended up draining the store of funds (they ended up in the cash register of the bar down the road) and so the store was shuttered and the family moved to Winnipeg.
This was an awesome find, and comes from a researcher in Rosenfeld.
