⚠️ Kamsack RCMP are warning the public of a potentially-dangerous drug circulating in the Kamsack area.

Officers have responded to multiple reports of overdoses over the past two days – including three within an hour today (October 29). Officers are not aware of any deaths related to the overdoses, but naloxone and other medical interventions were required.

We have notified the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health.

Kamsack RCMP urges individuals to recognize the symptoms of an overdose. Signs can include:
- slow, weak or no breathing
- gurgling or choking sounds
- lips or fingernails that are blue
- the individual may appear dizzy, confused or seem exhausted

If you see these signs, stay with the individual and call 911 or your local emergency number to seek emergency medical assistance.

An overdose is a medical emergency. If you witness one, call 911 immediately. Emergency responders, including frontline Saskatchewan RCMP officers, carry naloxone, a fast-acting drug used to temporarily reverse the effects of overdoses caused by opioids.

You have some legal protection if you call for help. The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act provides some legal protection for individuals who seek emergency help during an overdose, including the person experiencing an overdose. The Act protects the person who seeks help, whether they stay or leave from the overdose scene before help arrives.

Getting dangerous illicit drugs off the street continues to be a top priority for the Saskatchewan RCMP. If you have information about drug trafficking in your area, you can report it to your local detachment by calling 310-RCMP (7267). Information can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1‐800‐222‐TIPS (8477) or submitting a tip online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
