My name is Jen. I am an Ashtanga yoga instructor. I took my RYT-200 hour Ashtanga Yoga teacher training in Goa India, at Kranti Yoga May 2014. I became very attached to the Sanskrit word "Ahimsa", which is one of the Niyamas and stands for non-violence; in thought, word, and action towards others and towards yourself. I have always been a very competitive person, especially inwardly, and in my training I learned to take care of and respect my body so I can continue to be strong in my practice and in life. My greatest goal is to instill this in my teaching practice within all my students. I believe yoga is about being ever present in mind, body and spirit; letting go of where you think you are going and being where you are; forgetting about how you look in each asana or posture and being one with your breath to flow gently with your moving meditation. Each time we step on our mats we are reminded to be kind to ourselves and to each person we have the great opportunity to share our space and energy with. Namaste.
