Rest and restore with Alissa every Thursday night at 7:30pm. Perfect way to wrap up your work week
😌
The daughter of a yoga "travelling" artist and writer, and a world travelling hippy, Alissa learned from a young age that the mind was not connected to the body, but was indeed part of the body.
Introduced to the practice by her mom, her family attended Axel Molema's classes on the cold floors of the local community centre for many years, holding gently onto Axel's words of guidance, as the cheers from the hockey game floated through the walls during many Thursday evenings.
It was on those cold floors, and later on the warmer floors of the Sivananda Yoga Centre in Toronto, and the Ashrams in Val Morin and Bahamas, that Alissa found a home in the practice of yoga.
Alissa graduated from the Sivananda Vedanta Academy in 2014. Following her 200 hr teacher training, she studied restorative yoga under Marla Joy, and post-natal yoga with Sue Elkind, as well as yoga birthing method with Dorothy Guerra.
Alissa is a trained birth doula, a reiki practitioner and mother of two young adventurers. Her mission as a teacher is to share the benefits of a practice that has shaped her world, activated change over and over in her life, and brought her home again and again.

Tonight! https://www.charlottetownyoga.com/charlottetownschedule

We’ve covered the 5 kleshas in our Yoga Unbound/Book Club class, now we’re covering the mind’s involvement over the next few weeks.
The author of the book we’re following, Deborah Adele writes,

β€œOne day something changed as I read some words by Georg Feuerstein. He spoke to the fact that everything happens in the mind; it is in the mind that we are captured by the kleshas or freed from them.”

I also have been very inspired by Georg and his wife, Brenda over the years! I have taken part in many of their Yoga philosophy programs. I love how they make this information relevant to our day to day lives, no matter where we are on this Yoga path. And that’s what I hope to bring to these classes as well.

Each of these Wednesday night classes (6:45-8pm) stand on their own, even if you aren’t reading the book. Com explore Yoga philosophy woven into a typical Yoga class with movement, breathing, relaxation and more.
