If you’re anywhere on the west coast at the moment, you may have noticed the strong smell of fire in the air from all the nearby fires wreaking havoc on our lungs.

I’ve heard many clients complaining of sore throats, lingering coughs and just a sense of discomfort in their chests.
Well we’ve got a tea for that!

Our beautiful soothe blend helps open up the bronchioles, remove stubborn mucus from the lungs and soothe irritated tissue in the throat and lungs. A couple cups a day will do the trick, and adding a touch of honey will add an extra boost of nourishing and soothing goodness.

Get to know the herbs we use! ⁣

Here we have the illustrious and powerful Ginger root (𝘡𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘦). ⁣

The best-known therapeutic application of this spice is as a treatment for motion sickness, a use well documented in the research literature. Ginger also effectively stimulates peripheral circulation, making it effective for bad circulation, chilblains, and cramps. ⁣

Ginger has been used around the world as an aromatic carminative (stomach soothing) and pungent appetite stimulant. In India and other countries with hot and humid climates, ginger is eaten daily and is a well-known remedy for digestive problems. It is popular not only for its flavor, but also because its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties help to preserve food, an essential action in such climates.⁣

Research indicates that ginger root enhances immune function, promotes the secretion of bile and gastric fluids, and increases blood circulation by inhibiting platelet aggregation. It is a potent anti-inflammatory, and studies show it is as effective as ibuprofen for reducing the pain and inflammation associated with arthritis. Fresh ginger is also a potent antiviral and antibacterial, helpful for treating influenza, the common cold, and both bacterial and viral gastroenteritis.⁣

You can find Ginger root in our Soothe blend, where it is used for its phlegm resolving and lung warming effect, and in our Settle tea, where it's stomach soothing, nausea relieving and bloating abolishing effects are utilized and highlighted. ⁣

We Love Ginger!!!! ⁣

Since we’re major tea nerds, we were so excited to finally visit in the Cowichan Valley. The only growers of Camellia sinensis (tea) in Canada and one of only a few in North America. Picked up some of their maple smoked green tea, which was literally cold smoked from the wood chips of a big leaf maple that had fallen onto some of the plants.
If you’re ever on Vancouver island, do check them out and help support the work they’re doing! The more tea the merrier.

As we shift into cold and flu season, there’s no better time than right now to strengthen our lungs and ensure our immunity is at its peak.
In Chinese medicine the lungs are our connection to the external environment and aside from taking in oxygen which feeds our body and cells, the lungs are responsible for our external immunity and therefore when healthy, keep us strong and protected.
Aside from breathing practices, clean environments and avoiding lung irritants, another strategy one can employ is drinking our Soothe blend.

This blend can be drunk to support and nourish the lungs, throat, and chest during periods of allergies, irritation or when you're recuperating from colds or flus. Ideal for people who require the nourishing and relieving effect on irritated respiratory passages.
