🦶 How’s Your Foot Circulation? Here’s What You Can Check at Home

Healthy circulation in your feet and lower legs is important for comfort, healing, and overall foot health—especially if you live with diabetes, poor circulation, or mobility concerns.

At home, you can watch for:
👀 Changes in skin colour (very pale, blue, or red areas)
❄️ Cold feet or toes compared to the rest of your body
⏳ Slow colour return when you gently press on a toe
💨 Swelling in the feet or ankles
⚠️ Cuts, sores, or cracks that take a long time to heal

These can be early signs that circulation isn’t as strong as it should be.

💙 How a Foot Care Nurse Helps
A foot care nurse is trained to assess circulation safely and gently—looking at skin health, temperature, blood flow, and pulse strength. We can spot subtle changes early, adjust your foot care safely, and recommend when medical follow-up is needed.

Regular foot care visits help:
✔️ Reduce the risk of infections and ulcers
✔️ Catch circulation issues early
✔️ Keep your feet comfortable and healthy
✔️ Give you peace of mind

Your feet work hard for you—let’s take good care of them.

Do you have areas of thick, hardened skin that is either uncomfortable or painful? Did you know that you're not alone, and this is seen in practice quite frequently.👣

Corns- are usually small and round. Depending on the location, and they can be very painful. Different types of corns are:

- Hard corns: often develop on the top of your toes, outside of your small toe or the bottoms of your feet.
- Soft corns: generally develop between your toes.

Calluses- are hard patches of skin that are larger than corns. Generally found on the bottoms of the foot on bony areas.

Don't let pain and discomfort stop you from doing the things you love. Book your appointment today !

🧼 Why Sterilized Tools Matter in Foot Care 🦶

When it comes to foot care, cleanliness is more than comfort, it’s safety. That’s why we’re proud to use autoclaved, sterilized tools for every single client.

Here’s why this matters for your health and peace of mind:

🔹 Protection Against Infection
Your skin, especially on the feet, is vulnerable to bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Using non-sterile tools can spread infections like athlete’s foot, nail fungus, or even more serious conditions. Sterilized tools eliminate these risks.

🔹 Gold Standard of Hygiene
We use an autoclave, the same sterilization system trusted in hospitals and dental clinics. It uses high-pressure steam to kill 100% of bacteria, viruses, and spores, ensuring tools are completely clean and safe to use.

🔹 Peace of Mind
Knowing your foot care professional uses sterile instruments means you can relax during your treatment, confident you’re in a safe, professional environment that puts your well-being first.

🔹 Especially Important for High-Risk Clients
If you have diabetes, compromised immunity, or circulation issues, even a small nick or cut can lead to complications. That’s why sterile tools aren’t optional, they’re essential.

🔹 We Never Reuse Without Sterilization
Every set of instruments is thoroughly cleaned, bagged, and autoclaved between clients. We also use single-use items when appropriate to maintain the highest hygiene standards.

✅ Safe tools.
✅ Professional care.
✅ Health-focused service.

When you choose professional foot care that prioritizes sterile instruments, you’re not just getting smoother heels or healthier nails—you’re protecting your overall health.

Here are some ways to protect your feet this coming winter!

❄️Moisturize daily- cold air, and indoor heating can quickly dry out our feet. Applying lotion after a shower can be helpful. (NO lotion between your toes)

❄️Keep your feet warm- try moisture-wicking socks that help keep your feet comfortably dry. (Cotton socks can hold moisture).

❄️Choose proper footwear- proper fit promotes circulation. It's never a bad idea to have non-slip soles for icy conditions.

❄️Inspect feet daily- no matter the season, don't neglect your feet, daily checks are recommended , if this is difficult ask for help, or use a mirror to help.
