It is soon one year ago that my friend, mentor and Reiki teacher Susan Mack passed away in the Roozen Family Hospice Centre - May 21st will be one year.

It has been a year of grieving, sharing, transition and moving forward - the time has both flown and dragged.

I am walking again this year to raise funds for the Pilgrim's Hospice Society and the Roozen Family Hospice Centre, and I invite you to participate in a way that is meaningful for you.

Any amount, any effort, every prayer, all goes to help them continue the beautiful work they do for people who need this type of care at end of life. This is an amazing group of people and facility, and their impact is deeply profound on the residents and the people who love them.

Hello, everyone.

I just wanted to drop in to share some information about an upcoming writing program being offered by a friend of mine called "Write from Your Heart".

Bonnie Hutchinson writes a weekly newspaper column, a weekly newsletter, and is a published author - her latest book called "Reflections: Celebrating 10 Years of Wit and Wisdom in Rural Alberta" was published in December 2025 I believe.

Bonnie also shares her knowledge of writing, her experiences and her editing skills through teaching "Write from Your Heart", which will begin on Tuesday, March 31. I am thrilled to support Bonnie's work in my way, through holding space each week for the attendees, the writing, and the healing that so often happens through that writing.

In order for Reiki to be effective as a self-practice, only one thing is required ... your Reiki hands on yourself.

In this busy world, sometimes all we have is a minute or two to pause ... and placing one hand on your leg while you are waiting in line, riding public transit, watching television or any other task where you have one hand free can provide instant flow and relief.

A Reiki self-practice is a perfect example of self-care - treat yourself with kindness today by giving yourself a little self-Reiki.

After all ... Treat every living being with kindness includes yourself.

And yet, that's the first place we need to look for it ...

Mikao Usui taught that self-healing came first:
▪️Practice Reiki on yourself daily
▪️Live the precepts daily
▪️Cultivate calmness, gratitude and integrity
▪️Serve others with humility
▪️Let Reiki be the guide

And when we do our inner work, we heal ourselves first, and the healing then can flow out to others.

Today I was reminded of the beauty and sacredness of the Reiki symbols as I taught a Level 2 Reiki class this afternoon.

I am always fascinated and grateful for how different people view energy and the circumstances in their life that brought them to Reiki.

Each class and student brings some new perspective and learning, and I love the infinite ways that Reiki can heal and support all beings.

Be curious, be open, and allow Reiki to lead and guide you on your healing journey!

Today's tip comes from a 🌎🌍🌏 global peace and healing circle 💫💫💫 I hosted this morning.

Just like Reiki can enhance other healing practices like meditation, there are many things that can enhance a Reiki practice. Today, it was Tibetan singing bowls as the background to our 20-minute intention circle for global healing.

While today it was the healing energy of Tibetan singing bowls, anything that shifts our energy to one of peace, healing, compassion, love is a boost to ourselves and anyone who comes into our circle.

Whatever heals and supports you today, may you be at peace. And may you share peace with someone you care about today.

Or/and ... share peace with someone who triggers you today ... may that begin healing and peace for you both 🙏❤🥰

Hello, everyone.

A friend of a friend passed away this morning, and I was reminded of a beautiful way of honoring through Reiki those who pass.

My teacher's tradition was to ask Reiki to flow for three days to those who have left their physical bodies to ease their transition.

It's my experience that not all beings "need" that help, but it has always felt like such a lovely transition to me - to be surrounded by that energy of Reiki, Divine Love, as we leave this lifetime and move into the next phase for us.

My practice is to offer this for both humans and animals, and always feels like such a divine prayer for a peaceful passing from this life and a loving welcome into whatever comes next.

Yesterday got away on me 🥹 and sometimes that's just how it goes. 🥰 So here is the post for yesterday, Feb 3 ...
.. harmonizing with your medications to get maximum benefit.

A good friend of mine was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis.

My friend is nervous, anxious, even fearful. If she falls, she is at high-risk for broken bones.

She is scheduled to have an injection for her bones later in the month and we discussed some Reiki options for her.

Here are some suggestions:
1) Ask Reiki to flow ahead to the injectable drug itself, so that she receive maximum benefit from the drug itself.
2) Ask Reiki to flow ahead to the actual injection appointment, that everything flow smoothly and easily and her body fully receives the drug.
3) Ask Reiki to support her through her fear and anxiety, that she walk comfortably and confidently, fully connected and grounded.
4) Share Reiki with her during the actual appointment.
5) She can share Reiki with others while she is at her appointment.

I have also used these techniques with drugs like chemotherapy.

🙏 Having Reiki hands around the chemotherapy bag can enhance the benefits of chemo as well as offset the more harsh side effects of chemo.

🙏 Distance Reiki to the chemotherapy drug and to the chemo appointment.

🙏 Supporting all the person's systems while they receive the chemotherapy, and even after, can make those sessions more comfortable, easing anxiety and helping the body metabolize the chemo.

Basically, to help your body metabolize any drug or supplement you are taking, have it inside your field while you are sharing or receiving Reiki.

Whether this is your daily vitamin or life-saving chemotherapy, 🩷🩷 the possibilities are endless ... 🩷🩷

Yesterday, I thought I was going to share a Reiki story today ... but that was yesterday...

Today, it's more the reminder that "Just for today, do not anger." ...and probably a bit of "Just for today, do not worry." as well.

I have been feeling the hatred and vitriol around me as a constant barrage of energetic darts piercing my heart ... each dart seeming to go deeper, hurt more, to the point that this morning I was seriously questioning the work that I do and the "value" of it, the purpose in it.

In an online group I belong to that is dedicated to writing in all its forms, I spoke this morning of how grief-stricken I felt over this hatred and my pain. My intention for that group free-write time was to write this post, but I shared that I didn't know if I could. I was lost in my pain and the anger that seemed to be all around me.

That simple sharing, in that safe and sacred container, was all I needed ... I suddenly remembered the Reiki precepts, and knew that just for today, just for this moment, I was fine.

This too shall pass.

Instead of staying stuck in my pain, perhaps I can show some kindness to those who can only see hatred through the veil of their own pain.

So whether you are caught up in your hatred of others, or are affected by the hatred of others, remember - this too shall pass.

Just for today, do not anger.
Just for today, do not worry.
And ...
Show kindness to every living being - including, or maybe especially, yourself.

One more thing ... I can also honor those who hate as my teachers ... hard as that is at times.

I can continue to heal my own pain.

Remember that I choose to be part of the love in this world rather than the hate.

May your day be filled with love, with resilience, and with hope for a better world.

Suddenly, it's February 1st and I'm not sure where the last week or two went 🥹🫣😁

For the past 5 years (I think I started in 2020), I have written a Reiki post on this page every day for the month of February. I remembered that fact a week, maybe two weeks ago now.

I thought - I should start with a couple of pre-February posts ... see what emerges as a theme for this month, prepare myself and this energetic space for another month of sharing about Reiki, and so on.

Then I suddenly realized this morning that TODAY is February 1st, and I had not done anything towards this month of Reiki shares, encouragement!!

So ... here I am ... inviting stories, experiences, questions about your journey with Reiki. Or reach out if you'd like to learn more about Reiki and how it can enhance and heal on all levels .

I love to write ... it helps me work through emotions and fears, celebrate and express joy, makes me laugh ... and cry ... and so many other things 😁

I also was in perpetual hiding, afraid to write, and if I did write, I was so terrified to share it ... sometimes in that shaking fear with that quavering voice, even pounding heart palpitations.

A few years ago, I started working through my fears and self-doubts with and through writing, and I am so grateful I did that!!

My friend Bonnie Hutchinson is a writer, amongst other things. She writes a column for an Alberta newspaper, has published multiple books, and of course has a weekly newsletter.

Bonnie's most recent book is called "REFLECTIONS: Celebrating 10 Years of Wit and Wisdom in East Central Alberta".

Bonnie is also an editor and teacher, and one of her offerings is called "Write From Your Heart", where she combines both of those things with all her writing knowledge and life experiences for the benefit of the aspiring writers who take her classes.

I attended this program a few years ago, and am so thankful I did!! I mostly write for myself, with some blog posts here and there, or posts for this page. And attending "Write From Your Heart" helped me get much more comfortable with my self-expression through writing, and then sharing my words, and myself ☺️

Whether you want to write for yourself or for a wider audience, this program can support and benefit you.

Bonnie and I had a conversation this morning about my experiences of "Write From Your Heart", and how it has affected my life and my writing.
