Oh, how we love lip filler 🥹

These natural lips received 0.5ml in Spring 2023 and another 0.5ml this month! That’s 8 months between appointments - which we love. It’s important to keep time between lip filler treatments to allow filler to settle, some to dissolve, and to limit risk of overfilling & migration.

Let’s talk about migration - it’ll be worth the read!

My lovely client has gotten her lips done 6 times in 4 years. Point blank, if you’ve been getting your lips done for 3 to 5 years consistently, it is likely time for you to get them dissolved. This before and after is a great example of just that! When we dissolve lip filler, we inject an enzyme called hyaluronidase that breaks down the bonds of the hyaluronic acid-based filler. Even if you’ve left enough time in between lip filler injections, not all of the previous lip filler gets naturally dissolved. At some point, you’ve maximized the amount of space your lips actually have to hold filler, and so the filler has nowhere else to go, but outside of the lip. This is what gives that “duck lips” appearance, or the “filler moustache” that you may see as a shadow above the upper lip in pictures. Of course, this is dictated by your individual anatomy and so that’s why some people can tolerate a larger quantity of filler compared to others.

In my experience, it is unlikely that somebody who has extremely thin lips is going to end up with a very large pout without having any migration, unless they’ve taken very, very small amounts of filler to stretch the lip over a long period of time and create a space where more filler can be held.

When we dissolve filler, it is imperative to wait a minimum of 10 to 14 days before the lips can be filled again. This allows the hyaluronidase enzyme to stop breaking down the filler and leave room for the tissue to heal.

Plumpitupp lips for a beauty queen! The last slide speaks for itself 😂

One year ago, this client came in with virgin lips and we used a half syringe to give her a very subtle boost of hydration. This before and after is using another half syringe (mini lip enhancement) one year later! She loves the hydrated result from a small amount of filler as she already has such a beautiful shape. With Nurse Reeya’s magic hands, she was able to achieve even better symmetry, upturned corners, and better lip definition.
