Trigger Points: Where It All Connects
Trigger points are tight, irritated spots in muscles, often felt as “knots,” that can cause pain locally or in other areas of the body.
They sit at the intersection of the systems I’ve been sharing over the last few posts. Through the nervous system, they can send signals along nerve pathways, creating referred pain. Through the meridian system, many of these same points align with areas of disrupted flow. Through the fascial system, tension can be transmitted across the body, linking distant areas.
Bottom line:
Trigger points may be one of the clearest places where the physical nervous system, the meridian system, and the fascial system meet, showing how interconnected the body really is.
