1. Ignored early symptoms because doctors said “everything looks normal.”
2. Pushed through exhaustion because rest felt like weakness.
3. Tried to “out-discipline” my body with stricter diets and protocols.
4. Tied my worth to how productive I could be on a good day.
5. Thought healing meant fixing myself instead of listening to myself.
6. Felt guilty canceling plans when my body needed rest.
7. Stayed stuck in survival mode because slowing down felt unsafe.
8. Believed thriving was for other people, not someone with my diagnosis.

How about you? ↓

Even though my path hasn’t been linear, I don’t see these as failures anymore.
They were teachers.

They showed me that healing isn’t about willpower, it’s about safety, nourishment, and learning how to work with your body again.

And that’s exactly why I created Thrive Anyways. Because a diagnosis isn’t the end of the story.

Wellness culture had me believing that healing meant eating “perfectly clean.”

Like if I could just get my meals right, my body would finally stop being difficult.

But what I didn’t realize at the time was that I wasn’t actually building health…
I was building pressure.

One “imperfect” meal would spiral into:
“Ruined it.” → “Start over Monday.” → Add more rules, or start new protocol.

My turning point came when I finally saw this clearly:
I was using food to control fear and uncertainty.

And when I shifted from “perfectly clean” to consistent nourishment… everything got steadier.

Not overnight. Not magically.
But steadily, overtime my symptoms started to stabilize, my energy improved and my capacity increased.

If you’ve been living in all-or-nothing, I want you to know:
you’re not broken. you’re overwhelmed.
and if your “perfect plan” doesn’t work on hard days, then it isn’t a perfect plan at all.

💌DM me “STEADY” if you want support in shifting from “perfectly clean” to calmly consistent eating habits.

There’s a lot of noise this time of year telling you to push harder or reinvent yourself.

If you live with chronic illness, the wins are often quieter than that.

Staying regulated.
Not spiraling after a setback.
Choosing sustainable over extreme.

That’s not giving up.
That’s learning how to live here.

Save this if your progress this year looked quieter than you expected. 💛

Regulating our emotions is key to becoming the healthiest version of ourselves.

When we learn to manage our emotions and stress, we’re less likely to reach for junk food or develop harmful habits that lead to chronic illness.

Chronic stress disrupts our hormones, increases cravings for sugar and processed foods, and triggers emotional eating. Over time, this can cause weight gain, insulin resistance, and inflammation - leading to many chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and even depression.

By learning how to regulate our emotions and manage stress, we create the space to make conscious, nourishing food choices that support our long-term health and prevent illness.

Emotional regulation is key to building a world where we make healthier choices, respect our bodies, and thrive in harmony with one another.

Chronic illness can make you feel like you’re failing at healing.

I get it, and I’ve been there…the endless Googling, the strict diets, the supplements, the “maybe this will finally fix me” loop.

Here’s the truth though:
Most of us aren’t failing at trying…
we’re failing at doing the same small things long enough for the body to exhale and respond.

Healing isn’t flashy.
It doesn’t come in a 30-day detox or a 1-week gut reset.

It’s built in the unsexy stuff:
showing up for your body every day,
even when the effort feels tiny,
even when the progress feels slow,
even when it’s boring.

You don’t need another reset.
You need a foundation you can repeat without burning out.

That’s where real healing lives.
Not in the restarting, in the staying.

If you’re nodding along, this one’s for you.
Let’s build something safe your body can finally trust.

In this week’s episode of The Healing Chronicles, we’re joined by the brilliant to explore how sexual shame and trauma live in the body — and why reclaiming safety & pleasure can be a powerful part of healing.

This is a gentle, honest conversation about:
• shame and the nervous system
• disconnection from the body
• why pleasure is not indulgent — it’s restorative

You don’t need fixing.
You need safety.

If rest feels uncomfortable or “undeserved,” you’re not alone.

So many women have been conditioned to equate their worth with how much they do, give, and produce.

But your body can’t heal in survival mode.
It needs space. Stillness. Safety.

This isn’t about being lazy it’s about being human.

And if your body is sending symptoms instead of subtle nudges… that’s a sign it’s time to listen.

✨ If this hit home and you want practical tools to help your body shift out of survival mode, the Thrive Anyways bundle walks you through everything step-by-step. You can get instant access and start today.

Everyone tells you to fix your sleep hygiene.
No one tells you what’s actually breaking your sleep.

If you’re doing “everything right” and you’re still not sleeping… you’re not alone — and you’re not doing anything wrong.

In Episode 20 of The Healing Chronicles, we dive into the overlooked causes of poor sleep:
• Nighttime histamine spikes
• Gut inflammation blocking melatonin
• Stress patterns that make your brain feel unsafe
• 3AM cortisol surges
• The “tired but wired” phenomenon

If your nights feel chaotic or unpredictable, this episode will help you understand why.

After 12 years of well managed colitis (mostly in remission and drug free) I find myself experiencing a flare up.

The sudden onset of symptoms used to send me into a tailspin of fear and worry, but this time around I’m in a very different place.

I know I have the tools to support my body as it finds balance again, and that fear based thinking doesn’t help anything.

I also take full responsibility for the behaviours that likely contributed to this flare up (several weekends in a row of travel, late nights, poor sleep and alcohol)

I understand that maintaining balance for me means spending much more time and energy on healthy habits than the average person, and that’s just my reality.

I know that stress (in all its forms) is my primary trigger, so taking great care of myself right now and stepping away from any higher intensity activities is crucial. This isn’t a step backward, or a loss of progress… it’s honouring what my body needs most right now so I can bounce back quicker.

If you’re experiencing a IBD or autoimmune flare right now, know that you aren’t alone.

I’ll be sharing my journey back to remission as honestly and transparently as I can, in hopes that it finds someone who truly needs it.
